E8600 in stock!

Yup. Just gotta wait a month and see if the prices drop, then it's time to sell off the E8400! :)
 
Will any of the Nehalems perform better on games than the E8600?
 
Well, we KNOW we can get 4.4GHz+ on good air with the E8600... with the uncertainty about the ability to OC Nehalem, I'm not convinced it's going to stomp the E8600. It would have to start out as one heck of an achiever stock and I've heard only 25% better. If it can overclock likean E8600, that's another thing, I hear it can't.
 
just ordered a e8600 from newegg for $279 with free shipping. I read that wholesale price per 1000 units was around $266 so I don't think they will drop in price too much in the near future.
 
probably not a whole hell of a lot. if everything scaled 100% you would get around 12 1/2% better framerates. and it dont. scale 100%, that is. you would see even less difference between an e8500 and an e8600 for about that same $100 difference. the stuff about the e0 chips overclocking better is so far only a legend.

Now to sell my E8400. :) Oh, this addiction, er hobby. 2 Velociraptors, 1 WD6400AAKS, 1 GTX260 and an E8600 in 3 weeks. OUCH. :)
 
Are the better thermals fact at this point for the E8600 vs the 8500/8400?
 
I know required voltage is a HUGE difference, I would assume thermals would follow...

Check out XS forums - they're getting some crazy OC results from these things. It's NOT just the multiplier or the E0 stepping. Intel IS binning these things.
 
Placed my order for one of these as well at newegg... Now waiting on the DFI LanParty Jr to come out and I can start building the mATX gaming machine! Weeeeee
 
Does anyone know if the temp sensors on the E8600 work good or are they still getting stuck like the E8400 also?

there is exactly 1 guy doing 4500 or better with less than 1.47v vcore. and all he is showing is a 32m superpi. people start these stories and guys run out and buy a $300 cpu and get jack shit. you can do any of those overclocks with an 8500. the guys doing 5ghz are all way over 1.55v vcore, and at least watercooled.
