Where the hell are they? Still hard to find at reputable online stores? Is Intel just dropping it altogether?
 
Somebody has OEMs for sale now in the US - Microcenter or something....
 
Yea, TigerDirect sold out today. I understand there are a few OEMs out there, but where are the retail parts?
 
Who knows. Intel is being a bit ridiculous with their 45nm parts. I just went for an E8400. That half a multi wouldn't have done me a bit of good anyway now that I think about it. E8400 hits its own limitations before hitting an FSB wall.

Exactly what I did. I've been waiting this wholetime for that .5 multi and finally said F it and went with the E8400. I don't see myself much better than 4.1GHz OC with an E8500. All these 45nm DC's seem to hit the CPU limit at or just over 4GHz on air.

4.1 on air? What about your voltage and temps? I'm at 3.6 at the moment w/ stock voltage and 38c idle. Seems to be quite stable as well.

1.328 actual VCore and temps don't get much higher than 60-62 after hours of Orthos. This is with a TRUE sandwiched by silent 120mm's.

My E8400 does 3.6 at stock voltage too... but I see NO fun in that. :p
 
100 bucks for extra .5 multiplier heh.

I got an e8400 and spent the $100 on dinner with the Mrs., much easier to support the computer addiction when she's happy.:D
 
I am going with the e8300 it has a 1066 fsb and a mult of 9.5 they should overclock just as good as a e8500 and the e8300 has the same 6mb of cache. Intel said they were going on sale april 21,2008 with a price of $163 I guess will see.
 
Do you mean the e7200? The 8300 will be 1333FSB with an 8.5 multi.

edit to put in correct number (7200).
