E8400 vs higher E8x00 series

When you include overclocking, despite the higher multipliers of the "higher end" E8x00 series won't they all top off at around the same frequency give or take a few hundred MHz when the steppings are identical?

Or is this only applied to the E8400 & E8500 since they only differ 0.5x

Generally speaking that is, since some chips are binned higher and lower compared to the "normal" bunch.

Considering this, since the E8700 is coming out later this year 333x10.5 = 3.5GHz 65w TDP!

Yep
you rely on the normal luck to get a super overclocker though but they all clock damn well now.

Well they really are only a few hundred MHz different in the first place

The price I paid for a e8400 is a dollar or so cheaper than what you can get an e8500 for now
