Speed fan shows my core 0 and core 1 at 63c
I have a ac freezer 7 pro installed on the chip so I think my temps should be (cool)
I just got the rig up and running today and would like to test it out on a game but I am scared due to what speed fan says my temps are.
This is a C0 cpu by the way.

I just dont wanna burn the new rig up
 
core temp shows 58c
I dont understand why the temp is so high or if maybe something is wrong like the temp sensor is broke.I dont know please help me out
 
yeah thats way too high for idle with a Freezer Pro. you should be in the low 30s with that setup.
 
I reseated the cooler and I still get the same temp readings
 
:eek: wow thats high! Good air flow? What type of thermal compound are you using? How did you apply the thermal compound? Stocks settings? Whats the voltage going to the core? Post some pics of your setup.

the OP and I have PMed each other a few times because we were both doing our first builds around the same time. he should be on stock settings and the compound is the one that came pre applied on the Feezer Pro.

I have the same case, Freezer Pro cooler and an E8500 and I idle in the low 30s.
 
I dont have a fuckinh clue what is going on.I played NFSMW for abour 45mintues and my temp didn;t budge in core temp or in speed fan.The temp stays the same if it is under load or if it is idling
 
I am kinda thinking I have a broken temp sensor.
I dont see how the temp can stay the same from idle @1-20% cpu usage,to load around 90-100%usage.

I am not getting any flickering or any problems from it I am just concerned since I dont have the cash to be buying new parts.
 
Lots of the core sensors get stuck at lower temperatures. This usually doesn't happen until below 50C but your CPU sensors might be worse than average.

Run a RealTemp CPU Cool Down Test and you should get a better idea if your sensors are sticking.

Here's what normal sensors look like. At each decrease in Load, there should be a decrease in your temperatures which is an increase in Distance to TJMax.

gigabyte has some program that reports the same temps as the bios does so i just changed the tjmax settings in coretemp so the idle temps match the bios temps. i read a lot about the 45nm chips reporting screwry temps also. i dont know what to believe anymore.:rolleyes:
 
Who says your bios temps are accurate? I wouldn't trust a bios temperature. The core sensors can be calibrated to be fairly accurate as long as they aren't sticking. I definitely would not adjust TJMax to make a core temp look like a bios temp. The core sensors are not known for great accuracy at lower temperatures anyhow so why make an adjustment to TJMax which will screw up your full load temperatures?
 
I am gonna run real temp later tonight and let it run for a good while to see what everything says so I am sure.Thanks for the help guys.

Also, check your CPU voltage. My E8400 was idling at 73C, turns out the bios was set to a voltage of 1.47v.
 
I am pretty sure the voltage is right it is around 1.2v

I was just playing NFSMW max settings for about 1 hour with no problems at all.
 
IIRC that gigabyte MB has a setting in the bios called 'intel smartfan' (or something similar) - this setting is enabled by default, which will allow the motherboard to control fan speed. The fact that your temps are consistent regardless of idle or load leads me to suspect that this is indeed enabled and is controlling CPU fan. Recently replaced a friend's stock fan/heatsink (on a p35-ds3l), and with smartfan enabled the motherboard didnt even spin up the fan until 5 minutes into prime 95! (thought we had a dead fan until I disabled smartfan control and it ran full speed no probs).
