E8400 Temps w/ D-tek

I just replaced a 6600 with a nice shiny E8400, and at the same time I replaced an old Koolance CPU block with a D-tek and the Pro-Mount kit (with the backplate). I'm seeing much higher temps that I was expecting using this setup though.

At idle, 23C ambient, I am seeing around 41C, and 49-52C full load. No overclocking.

I have a 3/8" ID system with a 2x120 fan radiator, a relatively small pump/res combo, and a DD 8800GTX cooler in the loop. My 8800 GTX temps seem about the same as before, 45-46C idle and 55-58C full load.

I've checked the mount of the block, and it seems good, good contact all around in the AS Ceramique imprint on the CPU and the block. I've tried switching between the original mount and the Pro-Mount on the D-tek, and haven't seen any change.

Do the D-Tek nozzles really make a difference here? Do I need one of them in this setup, and if so, which one? I'd rather not take the thing apart ten times to figure it out. (unless that's what it takes)
 
umm, im kinda curious about this too. have you tried see what your temps are with the old koolance? what were temps were you seeing on the e6400.
 
If you look around the forums there is a lot of discussion about e8400 temps being wildly innacurate, either bad/stuck sensors, BIOS issues or a combination of both.
 
Well, I'm curious about the problem, but not curious enough to remove my motherboard AGAIN to put the Koolance mounting bracket back on. :)

I've seen some things about the E8400 temps, but not a whole lot. It just seems odd the Speedfan reports a core 0/1 temp around 42C idle, Core Temp reports 48C, and the "CPU temp" is only around 29C. Which is where I would expect it to be based on the fact the water leaving the pump is at 24C, and the water leaving the 8800 cooler is 27C.

I was just hoping to get this fixed (or at least explained) before I start on the overclocking.
 
No fix right now, depending on your motherboard. Check for BIOS updates. Otherwise, another month and all motherboards should be fully Penryn ready with BIOS updates.
 
It's a Asus P5K Premium mobo...They haven't updated the BIOS since 12/28/07, so I'll keep checking. Is there any webpage out there with correction factors for this board?
 
The fact that your 8800GTX temperatures are roughly 8c over what most get, signals to me you're bottlenecked by your radiator.

My heavily overclocked system sees 48c on the GTS full load, and 51c on the Q6600 full load.
 
You think it's the radiator? I would think the coolant temps would go up a lot more if that was the case. The GPU/CPU putting a lot of heat IN to the water, but the radiator not taking it OUT.

I'm only seeing 2-3C over ambient on the radiator outlet.

After looking at more of the stuff online, I'm going with the faulty temp sensors on the E8400 explaination. I've even put my hands on the waterblock edges, and they're no where near 48C.
