Has anyone else noticed or had this problem? My e8400 temperatures differ depending on which monitoring program I'm using. Maybe its just Coretemp, it seems to read about 10-12c higher than both Speedfan or Asus PC Probe.

Specs are:

E8400
Zerotherm Nirvana NV120
Asus Maximus Formula
2X 2GB Mushkin DDR2 1066
8800GTS 512
Vista Ultimate 64
TT Toughpower 850

I've got the same exact cpu and mobo as you, and I do believe a number of other people have experienced different temperature readings using different apps. At least your temps reported are still within a good performing range.

So which one we should believe?
I have 40-45C on Coretemp and Everest. My mobo in sig...

This is what I'm wondering. I'm in the process of getting my rig stable at 4ghz and I really don't feel comfortable running much higher than 60c under load. I'm going to err on the side of caution and trust Coretemp and Everest.

I've had this system prime stable for about 2 hours at 4ghz but I had to bump vcore to 1.36 with temps (as reported by Coretemp) hitting 64-66C to get there. I quit prime and went back down to 3.6ghz because I felt like that might be too much heat. Maybe it wasn't, and I'm worried over nothing?

Anyone else running an OC'ed e8400 that loads in the mid 60's? Is that ok or will I kill my chip at that temp and vcore?

the software out there doesn't deal with the cpu properly as of yet. i've read and read, and i can't get a definitive answer on which (if any ) to believe. seems to me, you HAVE to believe bios, as that's where everything comes from, but heck, even that is untrustworthy.

so the short answer is, everyone is seeing weirdness like this.

This might be a stupid question.... on the new computer I downloaded sf and the only temp readings I have are temp1 and temp2.

I would imagine these are the cpu cores?

It wasn't like that on the old comp.

It doesn't look like anyone has mentioned it yet... Grab the beta of speedfan. None of the temps listed in SF 4.33 are E8400 core temps.

When you get the beta you'll notice the temps running ~ 5C less than CoreTemp.

There have also been reports that the 105C Tjunction reported by CoreTemp is 10C off, that it should be 95C. If this is true then you can lower your temps reported by CoreTemp by 10C.

EDIT: Do not uninstall 4.33 as there are DLL's or something that 4.34 beta will need (it is just an exe) to get info.
Here is what it should look like:

Note in the message box where it says "Found Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E8400 @ 3.00GHz"

4.33 never lists the E8400 as found.

On my machine "core" and "ambient" are from my 8600gt.

Mine loads in the mid-70s with only 1.26 volts. I've reseated it several times and then lapped it, with no change, so I've decided not to worry about it. It's very stable and feels cool to the touch, which is enough for me.
