E8400 Tempature on 780=(((((( help!

Hey guys is the E8400 tempature problem fixed yet?

Core temp reads my cpu at 40-45 idle
Real temp reads my cpu at 30-35 idle

What can I do?
 
coretemp is usually considered the most accurate monitoring program since it reads the actual die temperatures. Real temp is probably reading external. Try reseating your heatsink if thats possible... maybe using AS5 if you have some
 
Real temp reads the internal just like Core Temp. The internal Intel DTS only records the temperature margin from Tj Max in internal registries. Applications guess at what Tj Max is to calculate the actual temperature. Sometimes there is variation in their guesses of what the Tj Max limit is thus it effects their temperature reading guess.

Go into Core Temp's setting, set it to show the delta temp to Tj Max.
Then compare that with what Real Temp says is the distance to Tj Max.

Also, compare what each program thinks the Tj Max value is.

When i enabled it in core temp it says

Are these good temps while idle?

Tj max 105C

Core 0 63 cto tjunction max remaining
Core 1 65c to tjunction max remaining

What does this mean?

Tj Max is the max safe operating temperature of the CPU.
Distance to Tj Max is how far below that maximum threshold you are.

This value is all the Intel CPU's measure and store.

The limit, the actual Tj Max value is not clearly published so Core Temp, and RealTemp guess at it, then give you a calculated temperature for your CPU.

[Tj Max approximation] - [measured distance to Tj Max] = CPU Core Temperature

So... back to my previous question. Does Core Temp and Real Temp agree on Tj Max. Do they agree on their readings of Distance to Tj Max.

Yes 60C to Tj Max is VERY low.

Strange... Load it up with Orthos for awhile. What is max load temp? Does it correlate accurately between the two apps.

Both tjmax are exactly correct

Real temp, while under orthos =cpu core0 - 40c cpu cor1- 41c

Core temp ,while under orthos=cpu core 0- 47c cpu core1-50c
 
Very strange. You didn't try running any of the calibration options for RealTemp did you? Redownload the latest version and unzip and run it fresh.

Both should be reading the same distance to Tj max values.
