whenever i used real temp or core temp... The lowest temp it goes down to is 40 c, is this a stuck sensor? or what could be wrong with this? or how can i fix it?
 
Mine does the same thing. The only thing you need to worry about is max temps anyway. Don't worry about your idle temps.
 
I have the same issue on mine.

Seems the sensors get stuck at low temps (here and here) but as thefordmccord said, just worry about max.
 
thanks guys so i guess i just have to worry about the high temp then..... i have it clock at 3.8 and idle at xx temp.. high is around 44...
 
What kind of cooling are you using? Stock?

Also, what are you using for stress when quoting high temp of 44º?
 
Its a bad sensor like most E8400 I have read about. Mine is stuck for a low at Core0 41c Core1 37. I have the same Idle temp at from 3Ghz all the way up to 4Ghz. From a voltage of 1.23-1.45. Doesn't change idle temp no matter what.

Now Everest has 3 cpu readings. 1 for each of the cores, and a single one that is usually 23c-25c idle. i have even cracked a window and shut the door to the comp room to see if the temp ever went down. It didn't. Even after 5 hours at room temp of 12c,the GPU dropped into the lower 40c area, motherboard at 22c-25, but those two individual cpu core's readings never moved lower. This is on water cooling to boot.

Bad sensor.
 
Its not that the sensors stick in most cases, its more that there is no calibration data from intel to read lower temps.
My lowest idle temps is 43C with Realtemp (E8400) yet my motherboard reads the temp down to 22C.

So ignore idle temps, they dont mean a lot if anything.
 
But, if your idle temps are higher, and off by 6-7 degrees like mine are....doesn't that greatly impact your load max temp? Or, should you just subtract from it? -.^

Nope.
TjMax temp is calibrated so the closer you are to that, the more likely you will have a believable temp reading.
So load temps even wont be accurate but nowhere near as badly inaccurate as idle temps.

Look up Tjmax for a better understanding.
