ok so my friend just bought an e8400 and i got it installed it on his P5N-sli motherboard. got it to boot into windows. i then restarted it and started to work on the overclock. i got it to boot with a 1740 qdrfsb with all voltages on auto, i tried to bump it to a 1800 qdrFSB and fiddled with the voltages a little. it wont boot now it just sits with the little blinking line, i took the battery off the motherboard to clear the bios and now it wont boot at all, im gonnna try to reseat everything

any other ideas?

Have you tried to find the reset jumper? Most new motherboards will have a Bios Reset jumper, just flip it, put it back and everything goes back to stock factory.

Otherwise, I'd suggest unplugging everything except cpu, 1 stick of ram and seeing if it posts or not.

i have looked all over and this POS 650i boad doesnt have a post code led.....

ill see if i can find that jumper

lol figured out the board got burned out by the voltage needed to boot with the fsb for 4ghz, so we ordered a evga 750i ftw, lol i guess i just burst my broken mobo from OC'ing cherry....

Don't you mean, you just burst your cherry trying to OC your mobo? Lol

Dude...don't post stuff like this. j/k

I am thinking of OCing...and scared crapless over the idea of burning something up myself. Anything that could fry would be $300+/- lost value.

My guess, is you stepped the OCing up way to quickly?

no i have a 780i that i took to 4.4ghz with my old e8400 and currently has a qx9650 at 4.2ghz untill i get my water cooling to get it all the way to 4.4 or maybe higher. the thing is that the processors are very resiliant, its usually a Mobo problem in my experiance. he just had a really shitty asus board. im sickened to think that he could have bought the computer a few weeks ago from falcon nw and they would use such a shitty board.
