e8400 overkill?

im thinking of upgrading my cpu but considering my sistem in my sig is the e8400 overkill for it or would a e7200+ a mild oc do just fine?

Overkill should be defined by what your intended purposes are.

If you're asking about bottlenecking or anything, then you shouldn't have a problem, no.

well mostly its going to be used for casual gaming and high def movie watching my pc is in somewhat of a case that i normaly use for benching its an acrilic cube nothing fancy just to keep it insolated from the harm

Define mild overclock on the e7200? I consider mine pretty light since the voltage isn't pushed much. I imagine most will hit 3.6+ without having to crank the volts much (course YMMV).

Do you feel like the 2160 is limiting you? Why upgrade at all if all you are doing is light gaming and video watching - the 2160 @ 2.8 should be sufficient for that.

pretty much yes with the 1mb L2 cache and considering that my motherboard doesnt have 1:1 divider for 800fsb cpu ive been planing to upgrade to something with a bit more horsepower incase i ever want to do a more serios oc

This is the [H] after all, nothing is overkill.

I went from a E2180 overclocked to 3GHz to a E3110 at 4GHz and couldn't be happier. If you feel your current system isn't cutting the mustard, upgrade. Otherwise, keep what you have now and wait until something worth upgrading for comes along (new game or whatever).

I am sure you can pull another 200-400 mhz out of your overclock.... save your money.
