Just curious if anyone had one of these & was overclocking one? Am looking to upgrade HTPC & since they're cheap now was wanting to grab one before they run out. Not that it will be overclocked huge, but was kinda curious. Thanks

Since it's for an HTPC... why you would use this in one is beyond me - HTPC = low power, does not require anything remotely high end; E84 is not low power.

And considering this is one of the most popular C2Ds around, there's a "Search" feature that could be put to use.

Yes the E8400 overclocks fine and even better with the E0 stepping. I'm running 3.6Ghz on air, can't get it higher because of my ram and I have the older version.

And wtf is wrong with dual-core :mad:

Just because someone hasn't been here for a long time doesn't mean he hasn't been on other forums for years, or that he wouldn't know much about computers in general.
In fact, you'd almost be inclined to say that the people spending the least time on forums are the smartest :)

Don't really feel like updating the sig with the i7 system since the mobo is still a week away from release, so technically it would be deceiving to write up a build that's not built :)

Hey, Dont make fun of the 9800gtx, The card is a beast, Doing 865/2125/1275 on stock cooling and 900/2214/1275 with a simple volt mod, Check yo self son :cool:

Also, the op reminds me of my World of Warcraft days, where lol was said in every sentence and arena ratings and a low iq made even the smartest people seem stupid in wow.
 
to answer your question I have an e8400 and yes it is very overclockable, but obviously you are too immature to post in this section with the insults so thread closed.
