Alright after continuous worry with some overclocking problems and a after market heat sink I'm now back to overclocking my dam E8400, I finally got it to run stable on P95 for 1hr 20min and then decided to up the FSB, anyway:

E8400 @ 3.3GHz Stepping 0E Batch Q844A678
FSB: 367MHz 1:1
V-core: 1.325
CPU PLL: 1.60v
FSB Termination: 1.20v
NB: 1.20v

D did this based one Zero82z advice and it seemed to work out, this thread also helped explain the voltage options and limitation http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1198647 a informative read, but i'm on 2 cores not 4.

Set your Vcore to something like 1.325V, and raise your NB, CPU PLL, and FSB termination voltages each by 0.1V. Also, make sure you run a small FFT test in Prime95 and not blend, since blend will test your RAM as well. Right now we just want to see if we can get your CPU stable.

so for the cooling i grabbed up a Zalman heat sink CNPS7500-CU it helps temp but under load i have only sen a 2-3 oC difference... anyway i will see how it hold up, the temps are ITB 72oC max 69-70 avg, Prim 95 Small FFT 62 oC max, 60avg,

so now i have the FSB up to 385MHz core 3465MHz, testing is in progress(no volt changes), so lets see how far i can go with this and find a comfort rang, but i had a few questions first off the voltages on the PLL, I hear it can be a dangerous to mess with, i don't think adding 0.1v will hurt it but you can never be to safe, also the DDR Termination is also a sensitive one but i read you good under 1.4v. Second I was changing the volts and noticed a option for CPU Spread Spectrum = Auto, I remeber back in my 3000XP + days i turned that off but i can't remember why anyway any suggestions.

Ok that's it! I just garbed up this new Zalman cooler and find out it's only good for sock speed and little to no noise! now i'm stuck with is and it was a mean bitch to get on (space issues) so now i don't want to take it off I need to find an alternative to dealing with this problem, so that fan like max's out at 2300 rpm, but it has a nice sold copper fin heat sink, here it is

Now I'm thinking getting a faster fan to fit in the cooler would probably increase the cooling more than just 3oC from stock, wel nay ideas on possibly modding this fan or am i stuck getting a new cooler.... :(

well other than that i got a stable overclock at 3.4GHz, but i have not tested the mem, i thing the auto setings have the timing to tight and making it unstable but have yet to test and wil be laying off till I fix the cooler issue

You'd probably be best off with another cooler like the Xigmatek HDT-S1283 rather than trying to make the most of the lackluster Zalman. You'd basically be polishing a turd, and we all know how that saying goes ;).

How does your 1283 work for you? I have a 9500CPS that I would like to change out to something with a 120MM fan.

Hey should i grab some thermal grease or is the zalman compound that came with the heat sink be ok?

BTW i can't seem to find any on new egg canada

I have the same cooler and I must say I love it, I have my E8400 running stable at 3.6 ghz with no problems what so ever my room is always hot, but I am idling at 38c and under load I dont know but I would say no more than 50c although I havent really bothered to check, I will do that right now and get back to you.
