If my mtoherboard doesnt have the latest bios it wont post. I dont have another 775 cpu and this bi**ch broke me. So, i cant return it once open. I can either wait or sale it.

I'll let it go cheaper than newegg if you anyone wants to buy it tonight. Well, im going to build it up.

Some board manufacturers allow returns for bios updates, if yours doesn't I'd spend the $40 and buy this. Congrats on the chip btw, I bought it the first day it came out and have loved it since it arrived :D.

Going to format soon and set up the cpu correctly. i have no idea why it POST'ed because my bios version is from 2007. The supported one i need is from 2008. BUT IM NOT COMPLAINING!

Hehe, s4rge's cpu is reading as 2.0ghz cuz of speedstep. No wonder he was at 1.104 on the vcore.. I was like.. wow'sers! That's a real good cpu at 3.0ghz! ^^ Until I saw the core speed.

s4rge, you should use the edit button if you're going to add more or make corrections.
 
Speed step is disabled i would guess from disabling everything that alters the cpu in bios (ci2e option disabled). I might have to update my bios to get it to read the cpu correctly. It wont even let me touch the cpu mulitipler so i would guess the bios is limited it to 2ghz. It shows as 397mhz on post screen so ya.

The site stop responding on me which made the post triple post.
 
So with speedstep already off.. then it would have to be the updated bios to fix things. Hope things work out for you buddy
 
Bios fixed the problem. Its @ 3.0 now but my temp are skyrocketing to 59C. going to check this damn weird heatsink.,
 
=/ the temps didnt change. Its @ 91 c now with orthos on. WTF. Im guessing thats wrong big time lol.
 
Aren't e8400 known to have flakey temp sensors?

POS system keeps crashing with IRQL equal less error memory dump

damn it wth. I bet its the motherboard or something.

I did install windows on the old non supported bios. Maybe something got screwed up after updating to the correct bios. So, i will re-install windows tomarrow with the new bios. Right now im pissed! $230 cpu and the system is not working correctly.

GRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
 
Most of the E8400's have faulty temp sensors on them. Some are even stuck as mine is, it is stuck at core 0=81f and core 1=100f on boot. Seems odd though but that is how it goes.

Mine is right i guess. I just have to get this system running without bsod-ing. going to shut it down for the night since i dont trust it =[ To many expensive parts on the line lol.
 
That IRQ error is sometimes a under voltage issue, i get that if i don't bump up my gskill ram. Hope you get it sorted out. By chance did you manually set the cpu voltage to see what happens.

wtf, fresh install and this time it just rebooted by itself.

cpui core @ 1.18
cpu fsb @ 1.20
mem @ 1.83 and needs 1.8
nforce spp @ 1.25v

is that all correct.,
 
Fixed that problem. Just upped everything voltage wise t han brought my memory down to 333mhz it was @ 400 which i guess is too much for my 667. Is that right?

Now i guess its time to lower my voltages one by one and see what makes this computer crash.

edit: memory back @ 400 with no problem. Problem was the ram voltage below 2.1v

:confused: Well, i was trying to get it to work. All the voltage changed 1 by 1 didnt fixed anything. I only up'd them by one to check if it would keep windows stable This @ stock everything. It didnt. So, i was lost for words, but now everything is fine so im guessing my 1.8v ram was having problems. At 2.0 it wasnt stabe and would memory dump just like 1.8v's . However, at 2.1 it runs 100 % stable.

My ram is 1.8v so why does it need 2.1v on this evga board? It worked fine on my amd dual system @ 1.8.

This thing is crazy. My amd x2 @ 2.7ghz did superpi in 36 seconds for 1mb LOL. This damn thing @ 3.6 ghz does it in 12 seconds
 
Um yeah... Did you read the guide? It has a lot of good information.

I would check memory speed and timings if you're pumping that much voltages in it to run stable. That stuff wasn't meant to run at 400Mhz and there's a good chance you could do some damage to your RAM. You may want to get some faster RAM if you're planning on OCing that processor, too. The DDR667 isn't going to get you far. However, before you do any OCing, since you're having so many issues, set everything to stock and make sure it works right.
Also, I am pretty sure your tempertures are NOT being reported correctly, unless you have some serious cooling problems.

Well, i have ddr 800 ram it turns out so im fine.
Transcend JETRAM 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400)
I got confused because i was running @ 667 on my amd system to keep the mem frequency under 400mhz.

is there anyway to check my ram voltage from windows? I have a feeling its really not running @ 2.1v.
