So I'm building a new system. My old AMD64 3200 with a x1650 for some reason doesn't cut it anymore, bad programing on games most likely . Therefore, I'm building a new mid range system since the games I play are not top notch (Mass Effect and Fallout 3 will probably be the most intensive games this system will see, and from what I could see they should scream on the rig below:

GPU: 512Mb GeForce 9800GT
PSU: Seventeam ST-500BAZ
Memory: Patriot 4GB DDR2 1066
Mobo: Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3L
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E7500

The components will not be discussed in here since this is not what he topic is all about. It's the best price/benefit available here in Brazil right now. I believe many of your might not know about the Seventeam PSUs since I never see them mentioned in here, but the brand is not my concern since it's a known quality one, widely available in here along with Coolermaster. What I want confirmation though, is if it's enough for that rig.

In here you will find its specs, from what I could see it should be more than enough. Thoughts?

I wouldn't put it in my computer. Where can you buy hardware at there?

The Seventeam Saint-500BAZ is a source which has emerged, both that line is no longer found in the manufacturer's website. It could be a reasonable source for market 10 years ago, but the current reality it is a source outdated, especially its very low efficiency (between 71% and 76%).

If you have a source, consider seriously to replace it with another of greater efficiency to reduce their electricity.

Unfortunately during our tests 12V output outside of the allowed values presented, which can cause the operation of your computer, such as random lockups, resets, and in extreme cases, even burn components.

Including it is quite expensive for what it offers.

Woah, I had no idea. Usually these power supplies were rated really well a few years ago when I built my system. Anyway, what about this one?

Has PFC, something that other PSU doesn't, plus this review

This is a nice power supply for the average user that wants to buy a decent power supply for his or her mainstream PC. ZM460-APS offers very good efficiency (around 85% if you pull between 40% and 60% from the labeled power, i.e. between 184 W and 276 W), which will help you to reduce your electricity bill and has all its protections up and running, meaning you won’t burn it if you try to pull more than it is capable of handling.

Like it happens with other products from this manufacturer, Zalman was conservative when labeling ZM460-APS. It is clearly a 500 W power supply with a 460 W label! In fact internally this power supply is identical to SilverStone Strider ST50F (some components are different but they have exactly the same specs).

Seems good enough to me, but I've never used Zalman products before. Any opinions?

I wouldn't put it in my computer. Where can you buy hardware at there?

There are local importers that can get pretty much any model and brand of PSUs from anywhere, however at hefty prices due to shipment and taxes. This Zalman model is available in here at a local computer store where I buy regularly and for an accessible price.

What I'm most interested though is if that much juice is enough to power the rig I mentioned, and no, I don't plan to upgrade anytime soon. I usually use my computer for three to four years and by that time I have to buy everything new since my parts get completely obsolete.

Any decent 400w will do- Corsair 400cx, Ea380 or even the EA500

Are you able to get the Antec Earthwatts 500?
