e7400 overclocks ?

Does someone have one of those cpus ?
I'm wondering how good they OC (I have heard they are new revision compared to e7200) and i could get:
Gigabyte P35 DS3L mobo + E7400 for 175 euro (160 euro after latest announced price drop) for a cheap upgrade.
 
all i got is an e7200 but it does 3.8ghz @ 1.370v so why shouldn't the e7400 be able to do atleast 3.6?
 
Haven't heard any news about them but the old 7 series wasn't half bad either. 3.6 - 4.2 being the norm overclocking range with 3.6 to 3.8 being the most common air cooling / safe voltage range I've personally seen.
 
An even cheaper upgrade is the E5200. I had mine running right around 3.9Ghz with 1.375V on air with a mATX onboard video board. I don't know what they run over there, but they are $80 or so compared to $120 for the E7XXX.
 
E5200 is not enough :) I have seen them doing as bad as 3.4-3.5 so not that much of improvemnt compared to e2160@3.0 stock and capable of 3.25@1.45.

Plus there are rumors new e5300 and e7400 are new revision with similar abilities as E0 E8x00.
 
yeah, that's about all I got my E2160 up to also. The problem is at that price, it runs too close to the E8400. For the extra couple bucks, it's probably worth it to go with the E8400. Of course, then at that price, it ends up being worth it to go a couple extra bucks for the Q6600 ;).

those bastards at intel sure are clever :cool:. I am in the same boat when I consider any possible upgrades all I see is the step-up ladder and I ultimately end up at a Q9550:eek:

True that I could go with q6600 but it's power hungry monster and on average seems to get to 3.3-3.4 Ghz on air so not that amazing improvement in single threaded games.

Then q8200 - totaly meh with multu x7, q9300 not that amazing better, q9400 is nice but q9550 is so much better that it would be worth paying those 20% more than q9400 but at this point that would be at least 350 euro for decent p5q pro and q9550 (after price drop).
 
I got the E7400 at Microcenter for $99, instore only, my board and ram aren't here yet.
 
Head over to xs, some users already posted some results for it.

So far i have seen 4.6Ghz @ 1.5V.

So far from what i have seen, I will be sticking with my E5200 for now, 4.3Ghz under 1.5V is enough for me. I was looking into this chip for a friend build im putting together, but i convinced him to go E8500 instead since hes doing a wc setup.
