e6750 to q6600?

should I go for it? late last year I got my e6750 for nearly 200 now I can get the q6600 for $199. Running the system in my sig. Think it'd make a nice bit of difference?
I think im going to upgrade my board to because its a terrible overclocker.
a decent board to suggest for the proc to? I'd like to stay with an sli board for future possibilities.

I'd so no also. That money can be used for something more practical, like better speakers, or more space. You could even up your cooling and o/c to more than 3ghz. I'd say you can go up to 3.6 with your setup.
 
i agree with the previous two posters mostly

The only reason to plump in a Q6600 would be if you do some highly parallel stuff, like video encoding a lot, but i'd think that if you did that, you would have gotten a quad last year instead of the e6750.

In general use the performance increase will be too low to justify 200 euros, unless off course you can sell of the 6750 for >160, making the price of the jump <40
 
Or spend the dough on a better board, the processor is fine. With a better board you can overclock a bit more. If you require SLI I recommend the EVGA 780i board. If not, go with the abit IP35-Pro..
 
if you had an older P4 Dual core CPU or a single core CPU then, you should upgrade to that Q6600. But a E6750 Dual Core is good already. At default clock speeds, the Q6600 is just a little faster than that E6750 dual core in games. It is very small though. As Chombo just mentioned: get another 8800GT and run it in SLI for a more noticeable boost. Make sure you are gaming at a high res though with AA and AF settings enabled. If not, then your SLI setup will be a waste if you don't take advantage of it.
