E6750 Stock Temperature

What is a good stock temperature for the E6750?

I'm running stock cooling and the nvidia Monitorview says its idleing at about 52c and core temp says Core 0 is at 31c and Core 1 is at 31c.
 
pretty sure you have to add 15 to all core temp values. that being said, my e6750 @3.5 ghz is idling at 34 degrees celcius (19 displayed on core temp, plus 15). not sure what kind of cooling you have or what how high your processor is overclocked (if overclocked at all), but use my values as a gague for how hot you should be. if you aren't overclocking, but using the stock intel heatsink, you should probably be getting a bit cooler/ roughly the same temps as me. i have a thermalrigh ultra 120 heatsink, by the way.

There's no need to reseat. Low idle core temperatures reported by any Core processor are meaningless. The sensor wasn't designed for that.

Use CoreTemp 0.95 with your E6750 and report your load temps, MHz and cpu voltage and you will probably be running all OK. There's no need to add 15C to that chip if you are using CoreTemp. You can't make any comparison between a stock Intel cooler to a Thermalright 120.
 
So far from my observations, I feel cortemp is definately low on the idle (seems around 10c low). But at load it's all matched up with my bios shutdown temps and and my bios reading is correct at 30c as what I can see atm. I feel comfindent that your coretemp loads are very accurate. in a room at 30c ambient I'm getting a max load of 65-70c.
 
Hm I played a round of counter strike source and my temps were core 0 34c and core 1 33c.

Btw I'm on an EVGA 680i motherboard.
 
Oops. I misread you originally, thought you said 133C at the end there. Haha.

Anyway, games won't really give you a good idea of your load temps necessarily. Download Orthos and run that.
 
After running orthos it went up to 43c on both cores.

I'm fairly positive the heatsink is seated properly and everything snapped in right.

That's exactly true but everyone needs to keep in mind that it is not CoreTemp's fault. It is only reading a sensor within the Core processors and it is doing that exactly right. The problem is the sensor is not designed or even documented by Intel to be used for reporting idle temperatures.

No one noticed how out to lunch this sensor is at idle until the E4300 was introduced. The programmer of CoreTemp's solution was to bump TjMax up from 85C to 100C to try to compensate for this problem but that only resulted in the load temps being off with those processors. This problem is even more obvious now with the G0 processors that use even less watts at idle and create even less heat.

In my testing, the on chip DTS sensors are very accurate for reporting load temps from about 45C or 50C to over 85C but take the idle temps with a grain of salt. They are typically too low by as much as 10C and you definitely can't compare idle core temps to other users because their sensors may be off by a different amount.

Idle temps below ambient are impossible with air cooling but it doesn't mean the assumed TjMax is wrong. It likely means the sensor is being used for a task that it was never designed for.
