:D Well, I had been waiting to upgrade my 925 Presler to an E6850 but as every website I searched so far had them listed for $ 289.00 lowest price and higher, most 300 or more I decided to pull the trigger on an E6750. Got it for $ 211.00 shipped from Directron.com. Ordered today at 5PM and it's shipped already ! Damn fast service

Anyhow, UPS shows it's supposed to be here Friday so this weekend out comes my trusty 4.02 GHZ Pentium D 925 Presler for this bad boy. I'm hoping for FSB oF 475 on my DS3. I'll let ya know how it goes.

I figured 100 bucks less for a 340 mhz difference I can live with. :D

And I get a free Intel Core 2 Duo black ballcap with my purchase too ! lol

And some dont, i have seen those that only hit 3,2 on XtremeSystems on the E6750. So i am waiting for more results before getting one.

Hmmm - I was waiting until the cuts actually came out, but it is not that much difference. May pull the trigger now where it will be here when the rest of my new hardware arrives.

I was thinking about doing the same thing..... but if the e6850 is actually $266 when price cuts occur, that is only $50 more than the e6750 today (even less at some sites), so I will probably wait and try to grab the e6750 for $30 less in 3 days

I ordered the e6750 last night where it would be here when the rest of my hardware got here. Will be very busy next week gutting my old HTPC and reinstalling the new hardware.

POST SOME RESULTS with these chips.

I bet they're going to be great overclockers!! ( = latest steppings)

Congrats on your purchase man, I just got one myself from allstarshop for $2 more than you. I plan on running it on an IP35 pro coupled with a tuniq tower to keep it nice and cool. I'll be upgrading from a Athlon 3200+ . Can't wait to get this thing up and running

What PSU have you got?

I don't recall what brand exactly offhand but its a 500w...

[EDIT] I believe its a coolmaster...

With regards to the E6750, if I've got a set of Buffalo DDR800 Firestix coupled with the EVGA 680i A1 mobo, would I be able to crank the ram up to 450+ mhz (ie, a solid overclock)?

the mobo can handle that for sure. The processor can probably handle it with a good cpu cooler like the thermalright 120 extreme/tuniq or water. If its too much for the processor though, you could just lower the multiplier to 7x.

I don't know how well those firestix overclock. I decided to go with 1066 ram just to be on the safe side when i go to overclock.

Yeah, I'm also going to get a Tuniq Tower 120. From what I remember, everyone was getting great results from the Firestix (I want to say at least DDR900 speeds), but I don't remember what they are now and since I don't have a system, I can't try it on my own. I hope I didn't make a mistake going for DDR800 ram :( Thats why I will go for at least the 6750 with the 8x mult.

I'm waiting for Monday. See what prices do. I got a 6750 in mind as well.

Yeah, I'm doing my footwork now, checking out Frys and the online retailers. Are all the (67/68)50s going to be the G0 stepping? If not, how we do find out if they are?

I think i read somewhere in another thread that a guy went to Fry's to see if he could get a cpu before the official date of the price drops and they had prices for the 6750 in their computers at around $205. I'm thinking that most other retailers will be about that price as Fry's is usually decent with prices.

While everyone has the right to make their own decision, is waiting a couple of days really that hard? Patience...

Where in the hell are you people finding these things to buy?!!? I WANT!!!!!

Only you can make that call. My 6750 is basically your 6700 with a 1333 fsb vs a 1066 fsb and newer stepping. I was going to go for a 6850 but decided that the extra hundred bucks wasn't worth it for 340 mhz.

Ya, I keep forgetting about the bus increase, though the benchmarks I've seen don't show a huge increase over the E6700 I still WANT THE FASTEST!!!!:D

Yes. It's like Christmas Eve as a child.

I'm just doing my footwork now. I've already got my motherboard and ram, I'm just waiting for the right time and place to by the processor. I just came here looking for advice

Yeah but where are they available to be bought, I've searched everywhere..that's all I want to know.

I ordered mine from Directron.com. It has shipped already and will be there when the rest of my hardware shows up on the 25th.

i got mine from allstarshop.com. They actually have the 6850 advertised right on the front page. The direct link for the 6750 is HERE.

I should be receiving mine on tuesday and I'll have all afternoon on Wednesday to put my system together. Can't wait...

I'm fairly sure that ZZF and Newegg will have them tomorrow or Monday. I usually buy from one of them. How is Allstarshop by the way?

It's the first time I've purchased from them. Great customer service, with same day shipping at a good price. They're good in my book...

Yeah..it's better too and cheaper? There must be some catch I'm missing here, but I'm getting it anyways.
