I have an E6700 on the way. How fast can it overclock w/ standard ECS board and air-cooled heatsink? Stable overclock.
 
Just to let you know there's a sticky called The Conroe Overclock Database on this forum.
 
you must be a noob to ask a question like that :rolleyes: There is no way anyone can tell you what your OC will be like. I wouldnt imagine that an ECS board will OC well, but that is just me. Also, you must check the conroe OC database.

Which, is kind of ironic since you were looking in the OC'ing section for it when you posted your question in the Intel forum, and, they're almost the same topic.
 
I'll answer your question exactly if you can answer mine.

I have some dice, that I'm going to roll with 6 sides... 1-6 what will I get when I roll the dice?

Same thing, buddy.... overclocking is LUCK of the draw with all the components you buy. Granted you can increase your odds of a high overclock, by getting components that are rated for faster speeds. (like DDR2 1000, etc..) and a good quality motherboard, etc.... But theres still a lot of luck

If you LISTED everything in your system we could take guesses... but the odds of guessing your overclock is like guessing how many jelly beans in a jar. :)

ECS generally makes crappy motherboards, so my guess is you'll get a crappy overclock! :(

P.S. you should have listed all of your components, especially your ram AND the model of that ECS mobo, if you want people to even guess. If you have crappy generic DDR2 400 you won't be going anywhere!

ECS has been getting a little better. Their newer 965 chipset board looks really clean and stable. I'd have probably chosen a different motherboard though, but the ECS will probably work. Expect maybe... 3.2Ghz? mid range OC depending on the CPU week, and everything else...

ummmm...ok

i'll tell you what's odd, the AMD A64 overclocking guide is in the Overclocking section, but the Core Duo Overclocking guide is in the Intel section............i think they both belong in Overclocking, the topic after all is Overclocking, and thats the first place I looked when it was mentioned, because i thought i was in the Overclocking section after all

Well with the way most of the responses have been shot toward him, there is no surprise in finding him not coming back to this post.
 
well...ecs is ok for overclocking, not the best...i have the ECS nForce 570 SLIT-A SLI conroe mobo...and the max FSB is 1300, and its not doin too well with multiplier, so thus far my e6400 can only hit 2.6 ghz...
