How much of a difference is there from a 6600 to a 6800.. is there that much of a difference?

Overclocking using air cooling I'd go with an E6600. Using phase the X6800.

The price difference is definitely NOT worth it at all, get E6600 and good cooling and it will overpower the X6800.

I am running my E6600 at faster than the stock X6800 right now. The X6800 can probably OC quite a bit more than my chip, but I spent a ton less money on mine. I will take my 3.2ghz chip (it will do 3.5-3.6, I just don't like running those voltages) for ~300 bucks over that for ~800 any day.

the money you save w/ e6600 over x6800, you could buy a 8800GTX !!

If it is OCed to the limit with high end water cooling, will it be worth it?

just curious how will it overpower it?

The E6600 and the X6800 have the same core and the same cache but the x6800 has a unlock multiplier but if you do overclocking and achieve the same speed, they are the same. The unlock mulitplier is great for those who are die hard overclockers but besides that normal users like us are good with th E6600
