E6600 vs E6700

I'm planning on overclocking my processor and using watercooling. I know both processors use the same cache and cores, but the e6700 is tested at higher clock speeds.

If I were to buy a e6600 what are the chances it would be able to clock as well as a e6700? I'm aiming for around 3.5 at no more than 1.5V. Would this be based entirely on luck and I would *probably* have better results with the e6700?
 
Id say its entirely based on luck. My E6600 is running at 3.6ghz at just 1.4250 volts. There are even some X6800 that are duds and dont overclock that well. Id say a E6600 can have just as much overclocking potential as an E6700. Id go for the cheaper E6600 and overclock away. Check out this sticky and see people's overclock results.

It is an excellent OC'er. I just hit 3621 with my second attempt at OC'ing. Bus Speed 402.4, FSB 1609.7, multiplier 9.0 and nice temps too!
 
Everything else being equal, an E6700 can only be better than an E6600...... Its the same cpu but has the option of using 10x multi .....Im not saying that the E6700 is better but it is definately not inferior to the E6600.... You will see more E6600 thats clocking high but thats just because more people are using E6600...

Look at my sig,.... I have a good idea what these chips can do.....

Im sure E6700 can do this as well ......

Thanks :) .... I tried 3-3-2-4 but I couldnt get it stable enough ... I already hit that voltage I promise myself not to go over and I kept my promise lol......

My best time ... 3-3-3-4 and tighter subtimings...

That was aircooled using Thermalright Ultra 120..... My benching partition is very bare so I dont have anything to monitor the temperature... My guess would be around 55C if that, at 4gs it was only ~45c at 1.6v,,,,, that bench was at 1.75v i think
