I just got the following upgrade to my system installed:
E6600 week 32
2x1024MB A-DATA Vitesta DDR2-800 CL5
Asus P5B-E 1.01G
MSI 7900GTO ( clocked at 675/800 currently )
Old Maze4 CPU waterblock on the CPU
SeaSonic 430W PSU
etc...
So first for my voltage problems:
At everything on stock, vCore appears to be 1.25V and i actually saw it drop to 1.18V under load(It works fine however). In general if i set the voltage in the BIOS i appears to be around 0.1V lower in windows, being about 0.05 too low in idle and it dropping significantly when i run ORTHOS.
Right now im clocked at 9x356 ~ 3.2Ghz(i dont want to go higher if there is something wrong
and the vCore in the BIOS is 1.3875(if not higher) i believe under load its 1.288 (Asus Probe and CPU-Z agree so i suppose its correct). Isnt the E6600 supposed to run at 1.325 or 1.35 or something like that?
My temperature problem:
Asus Probe reports the CPU temperature consistently plus 8-12C higher than Core Temp, which program should i trust?
At 3.2Ghz my load temp is 47C in CoreTemp and 55(!)C in the Asus Probe program, while the 'MB' temp is reported as 40C.
I assume the two programs report the temperature based on different sensors?
My question:
1. Is it just me or isnt the above behavior strange?
2. In order to mount my CPU water block (shown here: http://www.dangerdenstore.com/product.php?productid=32&cat=59&page=1 ) i cut a square piece of wood, such that the corners matched the S775 mounting holes and use this to hold down the CPU. This piece of wood resides quite close to the capacitors or whatever around the socket.
Does the capacitors need cooling? Is it possible that they are getting too hot because of the lack of airflow combined with the piece of wood preventing the heat to escape? I thought this might also explain the high Asus Probe temperature, as it could be getting its temperatur reading outside the CPU.
