My temp readings seem to be wrong, with 1st boot into xp i get cpu:15c mb:19c, when it wormsup idles are cpu:22 and mb:31, my room temp is around 21c. I havent tried p95, but when gaming for at least 1-2 hours most cpu gets to is 34-36 and mobo stays at 39c all the time(load). Vcore is set to auto in bios, been monitoring with Ai Suite and Pc Probe2, sometimes they both report changes in vcore(usually its 1.280v) but sometimes it drops as far as 1.14-1.18v and comesback to 1.28v, also clock drops from 2400mhz to 1600mhz(266x06-instead of 09) - is that normal? Thx.
 
The multi drops from 9X to 6X because you have SpeedStep enabled. Disable it in the bios or head into the Control Panel -> Power Options and set Power Schemes to Home/Office Desk.

Use CoreTemp or SpeedFan v.4.32 to monitor your core cpu temperature. Ignore any other temperatures. The Intel core is rated to run stable to 85C so no worries. SpeedFan also reports core voltage properly. CPUz works great for MHz but has a few issues with voltage.

Another question: Is there a sensor inside the actual cpu and on the mobo? or is there a cable connected to those parts? Its just that i was reading comando manual and it said the temps meter cable is purchased separetly. or its for stuff like ram and hd?
 
why in the world would you voluntarily disable speedstep? Why not let it do it's thing to keep power consumption and temperatures down?

Because I thought it'd stay locked at 2.4 and vcore wouldn't bounce around, but I only realised just after reading your post - went to check in ai suite and even with speedstep disabled in bios the core is still @1600 sometimes -why the hell is that?
Restarted, enabled speedstep, may be there is a reason for it to be there:), so you think i should leave it enabled?

Speedstep is great in theory but on some boards it doesn't do what Intel would like it to do and doesn't save you anything.

With Speedstep enabled on my overclocked P5B Deluxe the difference in power consumption is 1 watt, maximum, at idle as measured at the plug with a Kill-a-Watt meter. With a FSB of 425 the total MHz drops from 3400 MHz to 2550 MHz but the savings is nothing. CPU-z reports the core voltage dropping down like it should but SpeedFan shows that the core voltage doesn't drop and the power requirements not changing confirms that.

If it doesn't reduce power consumption then it also isn't reducing core temperatures. On my board there is no difference in idle temps and no reason to use Speedstep.

What program are you using to measure your MHz with? CPUz does the best job though even it isn't always perfect. Some of the other utilities for measuring clock speed are totally wrong.

My Computer properties:) - usually... and aisuite. Couldn't be asked to get cpuz yet(dont know which version...) - tried the1 that worked with amd but it doesn't show all the info on C2D.

I originally had some problems with it when it first came out but I think it was having a conflict with a previous version or with a different cpu monitoring program on my system. I've had no problems with it lately.

I definitely wouldn't rely too much on what MS Computer Properties tells you.
Here's what happens when you adjust the multiplier. CPUz gets it right but Computer Properties still thinks I'm running an 8X multi.

Thanks fot the link, this one works great although still shows core at 1600 with Sstep disabled. Aslo tried enabling ratio control and leaving it at 9x - still same thing... There are lots of options in bios and i dont know what they mean, with my previos setup(a8n) everything was straightforward.., here itll take me some time to workout whats what.
Im not too woried about it all the games work fine, also in bios it shows cpu freq. @2400mhz, i duno mayb theres something whong with the actual software in windows.
 
1.38 works perfect, clock @2.4! Thx again, although couldn't find 1.38 at filehippo, downloaded rar version from somewhere else. Am I supposed to be able to select between processors #1 #2? coz its in grey...
Yeah volts are wrong - 1.072, but that doesn't matter.

Oh I see yours is in grey too, f*** it...
 
I tried to make it nice and easy for you. That link above takes you to the cpuz area of file hippo and all you have to do is click on "Download This Version" over on the right hand side of the page.

Not sure why but you can't select in the gui what core to monitor. It's grayed out as you noticed.

At the command line you can type in

cpuz.exe -core=0
or
cpuz.exe -core=1

to view whatever core you want.

I find Speedfan reports core voltage accurately.
 
I don't know... mines wrong, but everywhere else its reported correct v. Anyway thx, speedstep issue has been solved. :)
 
Ok another issue:

Now im using speedfan 4.32 to monitor temps, readings seem to be very little different from aisuite & probe II... Before I was woried about them being too low, but now it looks like something's catching fire - AUX to be exact(122c) -what is AUX? is it the GPU by any chance? Bcoz nV monitor also saz AUX, actually - aux2: 18rpm, nForce: 675rpm(i dont even have a fan on the mobo, and System: 31899rpm - whats that all about?
Tried touching video card(the metal bit on the side) - it feels prety hot, but i could still keep my finger on it. So ive added 1 side exhaust fan (heard air intake should b less than output...), also pluged in front panel fan(120) and temps decreased by ~4-6c. Now gpu's temp is 54c(idle) - I mean can I trust nVidia monitor's reading? - if it saz 54 is it realy ~54?
Q: 1) What is AUX? - is it really one of my components?
2)Whats aux2: 18rpm , nForce: 675 and System:31899?
3) I know this should be in Cases&Modding.., but if i have front & rear fans(120mm) and got space for two side fans - what should they be intake or exhausts?
