Ok so i got my new computer setup and everything (i used the stock thermal paste on CPU) well i went to play counter strike source and i get in getting about 120-250 frames then it just goes way down to like 20-9 frames and i look at my processor tempature and its about 75 degrees celcius.... My video card runs at 53 C and doesnt go above it when playing..... Please help i have my CPU fan at max speed and it doesnt help much.
 
Make sure your HSF is seated properly. You might want to try running Orthos before you start playing any games or anything to see if your computer is stable and not overheating. Temps can be related to too many issues: incorrectly installed HSF, ambient temps, crappy/wrongly applied thermal paste, etc. etc.
 
Well dude, if your CPU heatsink/fan is properly installed, then you'll just have to get a better CPU cooler. That would be a much wiser choice than trying to force your CPU to run at such high temps.

Also, make sure you have good air flow in your case.

QFT.

It seems that you either have 1) Terrible air flow
2) Inproper insallation
3) both

Games shouldn't load your proc like that. I'm betting it's airflow.

Open the side panel and see what happens. Maybe blow a fan in there, that will eliminate a possible problem.

QFT and that for sure...

If it's ur first time to install intel stock heatsink then u need to read manual and also be sure that the heatsink is properly seat on ur cpu. Be sure to push all 4 pins in correctly, if it can't go in enough then switch the pin to another way and push it in again. This should do some trick i hope...
 
Yea we figured out one of the seating pins got loose as we were installing mobo and it really heated it up but now its properly seated and running about 35 Celcius under load. So thanks for your input. Those pins are really hard to get seated well :rolleyes: .
