Ok, this is my first build so go lightly on me. I just bought a whole new computer that I was buildin myself. The Processor seems to be running really hot, even on start-up it seems to climb up fairly quickly. It climbs up about 1C every 30 seconds untill it hits an idle of about 59-60. I had just finished installin XP and when I went to restart I figured I would check the temps from BIOS. Scared the bejesus outta me when I opened it up and saw that. I'm using NT-06 LITE cooler with AS5 and Corsair 620 Modular PSU with Sugo SFF (I think it's series 1, the small Lanbox like thing). Did I just add too much thermal paste or would too little do that? I don't plan on OC'ing but might in the future, should I just replace the NT-06 with the stock Intel? Or would my temps be even worse then now?
 
What motherboard are you using?

Have you tried remounting the heatsink? Also, look at AS' website for instructions on how to apply the thermal paste.

What is your Core Voltage at the moment? Tools such as CPU-Z can help you determine this.
 
By the way, it's 2 computers, each with same symptoms, same exact parts and all. Figure if we fix one I'll just do same to the other.

I have tried re-mounting the heatsink, EXACT same temps and such, Tried pea sized amout in center and placing heatsink on. That gave the readings I have now. The first I tried pea sized and spread it on my own. Don't think I have too much on it tho, if that's the case I can try again.

Heres the info I know nothin about. I didn't tinker with ANY of these and I pulled them from inside the BIOS "PC Health Check" section.

VCore - 1.42v
Vddr - 1.82v
Vmch - 1.26v
+5v - 4.83v
+12v - 12.14v
+3.3v - 3.32v
Voltage Battery 2.72v

If I need to change anything I would really appreaciate it if someone walked me through it. Don't wanna mess up a comp that we payed 1600 for.
 
CPU-Z is going to give you much more accurate reads on your system status, since you are mostly going to be in your O/S environment when using it. Run CPU-Z and post.

The V-Core in it was jumpin around a small tad, but atleast it wasn't showin 1.42!
Not sure what alot of that means tho. Hope it helps you help me figure out whats wrong. Should I do a controlled test? Like take off cover and put a fan next to the computer blowin on everything to make sure it's not just bad airflow?
 
Okie dokie buds. I figured out the prob. Bad airflow through that section.. I took off cover and had a small boxfan on low blowing on the comp and what do you know? 31-32c on proc, 23-25c on case temp. Anyone know how I can force my PSU to have it's fan run? At the moment it isn't runnin at all, and it's making my whole case heat up since it doesn't pull the heat from proc out. Was looking at 58-60c proc temps and 40c case temps. I added the extra fan, but it didn't help much since it forces you to put ALL the fans on the vid card side instead of processor side. Weak eh? So, what I'm wondering is how all the dudes with sugo 1 cases keep em soo cool. I really need to know cause I can't really keep both cases off and have fans blowin on each one lmao.

This is a known issue with the Corsair PSUs -- their fan isn't strong enough to act as both a PSU and CPU fan. Others have tried using another fan on the underside of the NT-06 fins, but that still doesnt help.

Try the stock cooler and see if it helps. Otherwise, I'm thinking you need a different PSU.

I have a Ultra Xfinity 600W PSU and my CPU is hotter than I would like (40C idle). I usually get 30C oc'ed idle w/ artic silver thermal grease on my other setup. Is the PSU to blame on this computer or is it something else? The other one is e4300 while the one I'm using right now is e4400 (not oc'ed).

You're using the same case as the OP? If not, whats your setup(s)? Better yet, start your own thread and PM me the link, lol.
 
I did post a thread up but only one person responded. Yes, I'm using my old case (Antec P180) and its pretty cool in there, all my temp. readings are from 31-45C. I have the CPU overclocked to 3GHz but the temperature remains the same. The Core 0 and Core 1 are at 35C idle right now but when I start up a game, and run for a while, it reaches 45-55C. I don't know if thats normal or not.
