after overclocking my e6600 i noticed that it was alot slower. things taht use to load extremely fast now loads at normal speed :p when i looked into the task manager it showed taht is was running at around 20%...all the time even when it;s idle. i have checked the process and nothing looks usual. what;s happening.......

What are your temps? Maybe it's throttling down.

I don't know about the constant 20% load though.

Is the entire system at 20% or one core is at 20%? Either way, do what the above poster suggested and tell us what is using the 20%.

it goes back and force between the cores.
some of the major processes are (drumroll...please):
iexplorer.exe
overclk.exe (ai booster, that usually off)
RTHDCPL.exe
CCAPP.exe
explorer.exe
svchost.exe
those are the ones that use 15K or above.

i finally got home today and when i check my computer...it was idleing at around 7% and all of a sudden it would jump to 23 come back and jump again. it;s all over the place and i just watched this of a couple of mintues. and like stated above...some of the apps just seem slower.

What specific process is eating up those other 15% or so!

If you go back to stock, does your speed jump back up?

there would (*should*) be no physical problem causing cpu load, unless its being misread by windows which might indicate a major problem somewhere. could be a virus/spyware. what hardware are you using? and stop using internet explorer damn it! as you can see its a resource hog (often for no apparent reason too) this also makes me lean toards virus/spyware
