Specs and new speeds:

GA 965G-DS3 (rev 1.0)
Zalman CNPS9500 Fan
E6600 (3.0ghz OC'd 9x333)
2x1GB Corsair XMS2 DDR 800 (running 2.5 = 833mhz)
eVGA 8800GTX (OC'd 630 core/ 2000 memory)

I seem to be overeheating my system, core temps read 55 at Idle and my 8800GTX is reading about 78 at Idle. I would like to know if anyone has any ideas on how exactly to managing some better cooling solutions (Only Air solutions). Personally, I also thought I would get better results and it seems as if if a very "conservitive" overclock is still too much for this system to hand. Any help would really be appreciated.

Two things first what voltage are you running this OC at? Second try to reapply the heatsink and thermal compound.

I have +1v down the line, plus I have it set at 1.375v for the CPU. Running Bios F8

I highly doubt it is the motherboard, there are so many people with the DS3 motherboard from Gigabyte and many have had great to decent outcomes in OC performance.

Most people I know have the 965P, not the 965G.... I haven't researched the differences (other than the obvious difference between P and G), but that might be something significant.

Believe the G's have integrated video? Not certain there.

GTXs just run too damn hot. Download RivaTuner and set it up to force the fan on the GTX to 70-80% work-cycle, and you'll see around a 15C drop there. 78C idle is really high, however. You might want to call and see if they'll let you RMA for a cooler running card -- what does it get to under load?

Is your northbridge getting extra toasty? That could be your real problem. Not that those temps aren't crazy for idle on a C2D, especially one not on stock cooling. Try lowering voltage by baby steps. Disable speedstep and all that other crap, and go by the vcore shown in Speedfan and CoreTemp, the BIOS setting tends to be higher than what you actually get.

As for other cooling options, Zalmans really are middle of the road, but at that speed it shouldn't be having a problem. Could always get a Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme and "brute force" it cooler.

One thing is there is really only two main differences with the G and P and that is integrated video and some minor tweaks ( I can not change actually RAM timing in my bios).

That specific fan model actually should be (according to popular consensus), I do not want to OC anymore than 3.0ghz. Maybe as my CPU gets outdated I will bump it up to 3.4ghz. However, with such a conservative OC, there is no reason what so ever that I should have such a high idil temperature on both my video card and my CPU.

As for my northbound temp it appears to be right around 50, full load it will spike up to 55-58. Core's on full load spike up to 68-69, while the 8800GTX only hits a peaks up 85-88.

I am going to try and reapply thermal paste to my CPU, as well as reposition certain fans. I just will be really upset if this all does not work according to plan

I am running the core temp program and found out that OC to 3.0 = 55 degrees Idle, Stock = 51 degree's Idle. WTF is going on here, I have reapplied the thermal grease twice (I have installed quite a few PC's, highly doubt that I am applying this grease wrong). Ambient room temperature is about 80 degree's.

Personally, I am stuck on how to fix such a problem. No matter what I do I can not change my temperatures.

your room is pretty hot. Are you using Coretemp to measure temps?

Yes I am using coretemp to measure both cores. Well considering my room is only 2 degrees higher than most homes AC units are set to here in AZ (78 degree's). I do not see how this is an issue. I have never had a processor running higher than 45 idle even my OC'd Opteron does not have such a problem.
