Needing some tips/advice on this newly installed E6600 CPU. I had a E6300 in my system (see sig) and everything ran nice, stable and smooth. I recieved my E6600 CPU yesterday and installed it in. One thing I forgot was to plug in the 4 pin CPU power cable when I attempted to start the computer. I immediately shut down the computer and plugged it in. The system boots up fine and I was on my desktop browsing the net, and running Prime95 to make sure there was nothing wrong with the CPU. After about 30 minutes my computer shuts down. The fans are still running and it takes about 30 seconds before I see the post screen.
I run orthos (w/o browsing the net) and about another 30 min or so it shuts off again. I re-checked my hardware, everything is seating in properly. I monitored my CPU temps on both times and the highest it goes is 42.C. My question is, if a CPU is damaged, shouldnt I NOT be able to get it to post at all? Or is there possibly something wrong with any other of my components? Any advice is appreciated.
