E6600 at 4.0ghz

Im sitting and waiting for the X6800 C2D Extreme to show its face so I can buy it and with my expectations, i'm hoping to hit 3.1+ on just air cooling. I dont think this is to far fetched as it is 2.93GHz (or close to that) factory.

You would look the same if sniff all that liquid nitrogen
Hmmm.... liquid nitrogen

If you're just looking to get 3.1ghz, don't bother getting the X6800. You could most likely hit 3.1 with just the E63 or E6400. The E6300 might be too FSB limited to reach 3.1ghz, but the E6400 should be able to do it fine.

Most of the new E6600 and E6700 Engineering Samples are having no problem hitting 4ghz. The E6600 is getting FSB limited at that point, but when Conroe-ready mobos are released in droves, they will hopefully fix that limit.

These conroe chips are beasts. In a decent board and a multi IE the 6600 3.5-4.0GHZ is entirely possible depending on the chip and max FSB :D

thats nice i want to see stable OCs on normal cooling types not just 3dmark drag races
but i will say Core2 is looking realy good right now

so i was thinking about getting a E6600 soo if the mobo can do think 3.5 is do-able on water?

most likely, yes. I am hoping to get my 6600 to 3.0-3.2 on air, but who knows.
