This might be a dumb question, but I've been out of the loop as far as Conroe procs go...
At work I'm sitting on a Dell Optiplex 745. It has an E6400, 2.13Ghz.
But in CPU-Z, it shows up with only one core, running at 1594.5 Mhz. Once in a blue moon it jumps for a split second to 2126 Mhz then back down again.
I went into msconfig into the boot.ini advanced options and set /numprocs to 2 for the heck of it. (I'm not sure if the guys that imaged these systems set it up for only one core or not; maybe they had a reason to for compatibility purposes.) Now CPU-Z shows 2 cores, but the proc speed still shows as 1594.5 Mhz.
Why? Shouldn't it be steady at around 2126 or so (2.13 Ghz)?
