As the title says, I've put together layouts. I can build the AMD rig for allmost a hundred cheaper. I plan on OC-ing whatever I get. Obiously the new rig is going to get my 8800GTS. I'm going sli with either (upgrade with another 8800GTS when the price comes down)

Your thoughts, am I shooting myself in the foot, or is it $100 saved that I can spend on parts later on?

AMD rig aprox 450, Intel aprox 560

The AMD f@nboy in me screams 'AMD!' but the wise decision is to get a C2D more speed = good. (Note: If I didn't make any sense, pick of a shovel and hit me over the head with it.)
 
I'm no fanboy whatsoever -- I go for best bang for the buck, and just this week upgraded to a C2D from an Athlon 64. And if it were me, of your two choices I'd go Intel -- it will absolutely murder that AMD cpu, far more then the $100 price differential might indicate.

Here's a couple benchmarks. Yeah, they're synthetic meaningless numbers, but whatever.
Only AMD cpu that comes close to even my lowly e4300 @ 2.93 is the top of the line FX, and even then it's never in doubt as to which one is the better performer.

edit: eh, used the FX-64 twice in the second shot instead of an FX 62 like in the first one. Doesn't really matter though.
 
I'm not sure where the $100 difference is coming from with the E6320. I just got all my parts for my new c2d rig 2 days ago.

Abit QuadGT $179
2x1gb pc6400 Crucial Ballistix Tracers $154
Total w/shipping $531

I could've saved $95 if I went with some corsair ram and the dfi 965p mobo.

I've been a huge fan of amd for damn near a decade, but for now I say get the c2d.
