E6320 OC questions.

Ok I have searched the forum, however since the last fallout here I still can not find an answer.

I can OC an amd and know its limits... but Intel is a little different...

I have a E6320 with a Masscool HSF

120mm rear, 2x80 front, 120mm side, 80mm side fans

The CPU temp reported by Abit uGuru is 60C CPU, 40C Case. That is max load using Orthos. At Idle I want to say the cpu is 39C. CPU is at 3.15 GHZ

CPUV: 1.32
FSB: 450
Multi: 7x
DDR: Running at 900MHz

I am just worried about thermal specs... I do not know what the max I should be looking at? Do I need a better cooler... ? I read the max vcore is 1.5??

Any help would be grateful.
 
First rule; never rely on your motherboard’s software to even come close to a real reading on almost anything.

Get yourself a copy of CoreTemp Beta and install that. It’s about the only program other then Everest that will give you a proper temperature reading.

CoreTemp Beta is the newest release and it pretty much right on, plus it will give you the VID, or the voltage at which Intel tested the CPU to be stable at not only rated speed but also to keep it within a safe temp range with the stock cooler.

Just like Intel gives a Max voltage of 1.5 and a max temp of the Tj they also suggest the CPU was not meant to run full time at those settings.

Like any CPU, even ones from the same batch each one has for lack of a better term it’s own personality. The limits will be the readings from CoreTemp Beata under load with Orthos divided by your common sense.

PS, I just read you are using Vista. CoreTemp is not digitaly signed and probably won't load properly. Still, grab a copy and also grab a copy of Speed FAn Beta. Restart Vista using the F-8 key, from the menue select ignore digital signing and allow the machine to reboot. Use your CoreTemp readings to calibrate your Speed fan then reboot back into normal mode. Nope, this is not at all like AMD;)
