I OC'd my e6300 to 2.8ghz (400*7) and when i go to the bios, it's running at 60 degrees. On everest, it shows the same thing. Is it too high? should i re-mount my heatsink (if so do i have to get new thermal paste?)

I was getting 75C @ 3.4GHz with my E6400 with the stock cooler. I am now getting 55C at the same speed with the Arctic Cooler Freezer 7 Pro. I am very happy with this temperature drop.

ACF7P is the best value cooler. hard to get anything close for the price anymore.

It's not a bad HSF for the price. It lowered my E6400 temps by about 10 degrees over the stock Intel HSF. It's also much quieter than the Intel HSF and cools better when doing stress tests.

Well, I found out the problem, my vCore was set to auto, and put the processor to 1.5 volts! I set it down to 1.3, and now i'm getting 45 degrees celsius.

Ah. That explains a lot. Some motherboards "guess" how much voltage they need for an overclock, and they're usually WAAY off. My DS3 was feeding my E6600 1.41 volts for a measly 3GHz OC. I dropped it to 1.35 and I'm idling in the upper 30s.

Yep, you gotta watch those "Auto" settings!!!

I had a problem with the MCH voltage with my DS3. It was getting unstable as I overclocked, then I found that the .1v setting was what it needed. Auto or anything higher and it would start giving me problems.

My e6400 was idling mid-40's. Played around with the case fans/placement and reduced temps by about 10c.. this on stock CPU fan. All I did was to use 2 case fans for exhaust ONLY. One near the top and one mid-case at the rear. Inspired by this article: http://www.short-media.com/review.php?r=230
