E5200 FSB and Voltage overclock poll

My stats can be seen in my signature. I was looking to see if people could post voltage and FSB settings they got using an e5200.

I've been hitting a no-post area when I get above 300 Mhz FSB which seems pretty low to me. My system used to boot ok at 333 Mhz FSB with my old e6750. So I think my issue has to do with voltage BiOS settings.

It would be helpful if I had other people's settings to compare my results against.

I will post my current voltage settings when I get home from work today.

I put my new build together about 10 hours ago. So far my E5200 is "stable" (2 hours prime95).

3.3Ghz @300MHz FSB
1.3625V
on Gigabyte G31M-ES2L

I know it won't pass prime95 at 3.75GHz. I'm still looking for the most I can get out of 1.3625V.

i run mine at 3.0ghz on an EP45-DS3L (note, this motherboard SUCKS, dont buy it!)

according to OCCT and CPU-Z, my voltage is 1.26 ..... seems a bit low... i dunno....

I have tried 1100, 1200, and 1333 all at 1.42 Vcore and cannot get any of those settings to post. However, 1066 FSB posts fine at 1.3 V (1.33V in cpu-z).

Whenever I try any of the faster FSB settings, the BiOS resets the FSB back to 800 MHz, the stock setting.

Any suggestions?

Could that be the RAM or motherboard limitation? Dumb question but does the CPU care about FSB or only its clock speed?

3.6GHz - 12x multi @ 300 fsb
Voltage set to (auto) on everything (mem at 1.8V, cpu at 1.3v). Stable on occt, ibt, and prime 95.

If you're running 4 sticks of ram, they say upping the voltage of the nb helps.

I'm thinking my mobo is just old and crappy, maybe I'll update to a mid-range P45 board for the interim until a fresh build in summer 2010.

lol 680i old and crappy.

my 650i is running my e7200 at 3.8ghz no sweat...

when was the last time you flashed the bios on the 680i? im thinking that cpu isnt supported under your current bios... its a fairly new processor. i couldnt get my e7200 past 3.2ghz but i found it my bios didnt support it. flashed it the latest one and bam everything is running smooth as silk.

edit: just checked out the supported cpu list from evga on the 680i and the e5200 isnt listed anywhere.

damn thats weak as shit for evga. even my 650i has support for it...

i guess ill never buy an evga board now lol

I built one for a friend on 1/26/09, chip came from newegg.

Used a cheap Gigabyte GA-G31M-ES2L mainboard. I gave it to him running at 3.6ghz (12 x 300) at 1.28vcore. It ran fine at 4ghz for the time I had it, however, I backed off just in case. I only had it for about 12 hours. 4ghz was at stock voltage too. I ditched the cooler though and used a spare E6400 cooler I had. He must have received one hell of a chip.

Why do you say the EP45-DS3L sucks? I have an EP45-DS3L paired up with an E4500 at 3.2ghz. (8x400) Dont really have much of any issues to speak of. Other than the limitations of my CPU.

Vdroop is the killer on the DS3L's especially since you need high voltages for these chips to be "good"
1.52v idle and have 1.43v actual is kind of scary 1.43v constant is much better (LLC)

overclocks on this board suck for me (swapping out with a friend of mine i was able to bring my current processor up to 4ghz on the same power supply and memory....)

that, and the AHCI is flaky as hell for me.... no idea why.....

edit: well hell, if its doing 400mhz for you like that, care to tell me what *all* your voltages are? i mean, i own the board, so i dont *want* it to such... maybe its a setting im messing up?

lol well god dammit, care to share your bios voltages?

also, (asking the both of u guys here...), can you get AHCI working *reliably* on the board?

did i just get a turd of a board? i *hope* i'm just doing something wrong... because i *wont* be changing this thing out until at least 3 or so years pass...
