Performance wise, it fares as expected, slotting in nicely between the X2 3800+ and E6300, and the slated $163 pricetag reflects that.

Of course, the big talking point of the E4300 will be what it brings to overclockers. :)

From the look of things it should make an excellent budget overclockers chip, with the main advantage being the 9x multiplier, so there is no need for high speed RAM and 400FSB+ capable mobos for 3GHz+ overclocks. Cheapskates rejoice! :D

Nice price, nice preformance, great overclocking possibilities with no need for expensive PC6400 DR2, on a cheap ~$100 mobo.... This is what a lot of people out there are waiting for. The next 300A.... :)
I smell another quickie AMD price drop soon... :eek: ;)

Not quite.

It appears to be a 'true' Allendale in that it's a native 2MB L2 chip, unlike the E6300/E6400 which has half the L2 disabled.

It also lacks VT (Virtualisation Technology) which may be important to some people.

Ehh. Im assuming the 63 and 6400's still OC superiorly...

Im fine with my 3.6 e6600 right now.

Why would you downgrade? This is for poor people like me who can't afford $300 processors...

Too bad though I already have E6300 but I paid less than E4300 so no loss.. :)

yeah if I had the willpower to wait another 2-3 months, I would have bit for a 4300 or something of that ilk. I got a decent deal on a 6400 though, although it's yet to be determined how well it'll overclock (ds3 tomorrow!!).

With the mess about nbcc and straps currently, these high multiplier solutions might actually work out beneficially. I just wonder how much difference VT would make on anything. I'm going to have a vmware setup running a contained server for mail and other tasks, so it'd be nice to have it.

And if it turns out production model true allendales do scale better than my l628a e6400 then hell I might jump ship if it's a minimal cost
 
The e4300 is going to be the cheap overclocking king. Pair it with some dirt cheap ddr533 and the cheapest 965 motherboard you can find and go to town. ALL ddr533 and 965s will do 400Mhz FSB with a bit of voltage. Can't beat a 3.2Ghz c2d+mobo+RAM for like four hundred bucks. Awesome.
 
I think you probably need ddr2667 if you want to overclock to 3.4ghz range...

Good stuff... They perform identical to the E6300/E6400 without virtualization....

Most DDR2-533 should be able to overclock to DDR2-667 speeds easily. In fact with some extra voltage many can make it to DDR2-800 speeds.
