So, now I'll continue explaining my issue. I've had my Intel Core 2 Duo E4300 for a little over 4 weeks now, and only started OCing it 3 weeks ago. After slightly altering the BIOS I was initially able to reach 311 x 9 = 2.8GHz with my CPU, and I had it running at this frequency for 3 weeks totally stable. Only a few days ago I had reset my BIOS to default, and I've never been able to get my previous overclock back, as I do not totally remember my old BIOs settings. So in my journey on getting this overclock back, I had found 'freecableguy' of XtremeSystems.org guide on... P5B Deluxe: BIOS screens for maximum overclocking success.

So basically, I'm asking how I can achieve the same overclock I had before? Thanks!
 
My Q702 is at 3.0GHz with 1.325V on a P5B-DX.

Turn the 5 chipset voltages down to their lowest value. You do not need anything more than the lowest for this minimal FSB overclock.
 
I have the E4300, the P5B-DX, and some OCZ PC2-8500 RAM.

What do you guys I should select for overclocking speeds? A 266FSB let's me achieve 2700ghz, but is that the safe limit for this chip? I am using the A64 cooler, it's pretty decent.
 
I'm using a 4300 with a Gig DS3 mainboard (F11 bios) and 2GB Gskill DDR800. At first, I was not able to get a decent overclock. I went through a link to set my BIOS up correctly, and still nothing. However then I gave the CPU a healthy amount of voltage, and I can get it up to about 3.09 on stock cooling. I'm currently putting 1.39V through it, and under load it's about 59C. I plan on getting a better cooler, and hopefully I will be able to reach 3.3 or so. 1.300 volts is probably not enough (If BIOS is reading it right). Stock voltage should be 1.325. Also remember to lock your PCI-E clock @ 100, as overclocking FSB may cause your video to bug out.
 
What do you use for temp reading Rocco? 59 seems a bit cool to me for 1.4v on stock cooling. Mine will go up to 54 at 1.25v (stock volts, 3.0ghz) at Orthos full load, and at 1.35 would o well above 59, and thats with fresh air being tunneled into/at the CPU fan/sync. I use Coretemp for readings, this is also a e6700.
 
My Q640 E4300 will do 3.0 GHZ (9 x 333) with everything at default, voltage in Bios reads slightly under 1.3v. At 3.2 GHz I need to bump the NB voltage up to 1.325v with a Vcore bumped to 1.375vsetting, reading 1.36v bios. so that's not all that bad, things still run plenty cool enough.

I've pushed this chip as high as 3.7 GHz (suicide run) with a 3.6 GHz stable (lots and lots of voltage required though), so I'd say I got lucky and got a pretty good chip............:D And all this is done on a cheap ($110) mother board.
