E4300, overclocking and temps

Hi, have an e4300 which is slighly overclocked, fsb is raised from 800 to 1066 but thinking of overclocking a bit more.
The cpu is cooled by a first generation thermalright ultra90 with a lowspeed 92mm fan, the back casefan blows air towards the cpu cooler.
Maximum temperature i have seen when running Intel TAT with a 100% workload on both cores is 72celsius.

Is 72celsius an ok temperature or a bit high?
How correct is the temperature TAT shows?
What is needed to raise the speed another 600mhz to reach 3ghz?
The cpu throttles down to 1.6ghz when idle, is there any drawbacks by using it with a high overclock?

I recommend you use Real Temp to monitor your temperatures instead of TAT. However, if 72C is the temperature your CPU is really running at, that is quite high considering the speed you're running. I suggest you remount the cooler with a new application of thermal paste and make sure the mounting and airflow is in order, and then check your load temps again (with Real Temp). If everything checks out, you'll be good for a higher overclock.
 
Thermal paste is AS5 and cooler was mounted a year ago or so.
Ventilation is good, so good so i could cool an amd64 winchester at 2.4ghz passivly without exceeding 54celsius.
The backsidefan(120mm) is blowing air into the case more or less right on the cpu-cooler.
Cpu-coolerfan is mounted so it works with this airflow, lowspeed 92mm.
Tried realtemp and shows a maximum of 58celsius.
Running TAT on both cores with 100% workload but priority on core1 is changed to below normal to avoid slowdowns in winows.

Is 59celsius high or low?
 
58C is decent, although it's a bit on the high side. I still recommend a reseat. However, you'll be okay with some more overclocking.
 
How accurate is real temp?

Reseated the cooler and thoroughly cleaned the heatsink and somewhat lapped it alittle.
Had AS5 on it and changed to mx2.
The fan blows air through the heatsink now instead of drawing air.
The cpu idles at 24-25celsius with an occasional dip to 23celsius with a 24celsius roomtemperature.
Ran super-pi on both cores for 10minutes and mostly the temp was 37-40celsius and max 42celsius.

The question you should be asking is "how accurate are Intel's digital temperature sensors?". Real Temp is as accurate as they are. And there is nothing more accurate than it at the moment when it comes to monitoring temperatures.
