Sony's conference is going to be cool. Assuming everything my reps told me and let me play with tonight get's announced.

FYI, Move is awesome.

Kinect is impressive. I can't think of any other place to get Wii Sports, Wii Sports Resort and a cat version of Nintendogs.

Hmm, we'll see. I'm getting my hands on Kinect this week, I'd like it to be cool but interacting with a void is something I really need to be sold on. :)

Cross fingers that Sony's wand thingy has demos, I was super impressed with their presentation last year.

please please please let video chat be completely free to gold and silver members on the 360

Anyone know of live blog streams. I know about all the usual suspects but most of them are blocked at work. If anyone knows some lesser known sites that will do live blogs it would be nice to see a link.

Reach looks pretty good, I don't care for the multiplayer but the singleplayer looks good. It definitely has a Halo 1 vibe going for it. And I hope you can control the spaceship in the footage they just showed.

And I'll update the trailers as soon as their posted on GT,etc.

Reach looks sweet and the ESPN Thing looks tight as well.

kinect looks pretty sweet as well if its priced right.

Microsoft signs timed exclusive deal for DLC on CoD games.

Taken from Destructoid

"At the Microsoft press conference, Don Mattrick announced a rather huge coup in the console war with the announcement of a multi-year contract signing concerning Call of Duty. Staring with Call of Duty: Black Ops, all map packs and add-ons will be arriving as timed exclusives on Xbox Live. Essentially, Microsoft is getting all Call of Duty content first.

"You'll want to get all your future Call of Duty games on Xbox," was Mattrick's bold statement.

Money is a powerful drug, right?"

new 360 launches today. New design, whipser quiet, 250gb hard drive, 802.11n, same price as current 360

It's $299, but cheaper than if you would buy the Components seperate on 360.

Damn they just gave the whole audience one, gotta sell the critics somehow I guess.

So, the new 360 has the same CPU/GPU? the same?! Same price?? meh..

well you can't really change the cpu/gpu. Consoles have to remain the same for developers to write games for them. If you give some a new cpu/gpu the developers could write games with better graphics but then they won't play well on the older consoles. So then they have to code for the older consoles making that fancy new cpu/gpu useless.

I imagine they are a smaller, cooler more effiicent nm tech though.

Just an update of the same console essentially. All it really needs to be until the next generation comes out.

horrible conference, even the audience didn't give a shit about 90% of what was shown

Not overly impressed with anything there. I was hoping for something new. Kinect looked waaaaaaay too gimmicky to me though Forza looked cool with the head tracking.

I heard they were gonna unveil something big. Turns out it was just a shiny 360.

I guess i was expecting something a little more explosive. Disappointed.

Wonder what Sony and Nintendo are gonna show tomorrow.

Oh and is it me or did that Matick guy look like Alan Partridge.

I thought it was great. Sure the hard core kiddie console gamers won't like it but the millions of us who bought the wii think it's great. You get a better more interactive controller system and HD. While my wii collects dust becuase it's too limited by the technology now and is less than impressive i'm eyeing a new 360 because the tech has so many more possiblities.

So while for you kinect may not seem that great it gives microsoft a whole new market and potentially millions of new consumers. I know my wife and kids will love this.

Interesting they didn't give Natal price at all. I think it will be much closer to the leaked $150 range rather than $50 price tag.

I don't even think "millions" have watched this conference yet.

The fitness game from Ubi impressed me; Like when it scanned in the body.
Wonder if it will be sens enough to keep track of muscle mass etc so you can have a record.

Star Wars looked interesting, but needs a sabre to hold onto.

Not keen on the driving as I think my arms would get tired within 20mins without holding onto a wheel (or dare I say it - A controller!).

Only game I thought took the most advantage of the new tracking was the dancing harmonix game.
I'm not a big fan of not having a controller in my hand but the possibility of intergrating both does have my attention. For example actual ducking/leaning in FPS games via tracking in combination with using the standard controls for movement. Or better yet it might be a good solution if they could incorporate head tracking to almost get a sudo like mouse look.
The biggest hurdle I kept thinking about with experienced gamers is we learned to not physically move are body during gaming as it provides little value with controllers. So most of us would have to "un-learn" and go back to looking like amateurs.
I'm just hoping they give the user the option if they want a physical controller, motion based, and/or hybrid. Example like Forza 3 I might like the head tracking for rear view mirrors and etc, but would still like the controller for normal play.

This. Totally.

Joystiq linked a perfect stream from Gametrailers, hopefully they do the same for Sony's conference tomorrow.

Quick thoughts -
ah screw it I'll just post what I just posted at Joystiq.

I should have shut the stream after Gears 3 because that was the highlight for me.

A bunch of Kinect stuff I don't care about, and another Peter Molyneux title that will be overhyped to the moon.

[sigh]

No free online play for Live Silver though, eh guys? 'sokay, I'll just continue buying more online titles on Steam and the Ps3 instead.

And no free consoles for all the people who have owned RRoD'd consoles out of warranty either I'm sure. Hey, don't want to make me too happy as a 360 owner, do you Microsoft?

Gears 3 looks great as I expected. MGS Rizing looks like a half-breed of a masher/slasher (GoW/Darksiders) and Otogi. If it's non-stealth (as it looks now), it will be sweet.

The rest - I honestly could give a shit about. They showed Fable 3, honestly we (neither me or my wife) liked Fable 2 (we loved Fable 1 however). They showed a bunch of Kinect stuff....the animal stuff with the little girl, yeah my daughter would probably like that, but I'm not paying $100+ for Kinect and another $40+ (assumedly) for the game itself just so she can fake pet a virtual tiger. The rest of the Kinect stuff was just garbage to me, I'm sorry. There's a sports game (no surprise), there's little fun minigame stuff (Adventure! - don't care), there's ooh voice and movement integration with the guide and a new mini guide. And ESPN! None of this stuff appeals to me. I'm not saying some people won't find uses for it, but me - I definitely pass.

They showed the slim 360, Joystiq called it and said it'd be cool if the fat 360 on stage was just a placeholder with the slim underneath - sure enough it was. Saving the specs aside - so they give free slims away to everyone at E3. What about the rest of us? Several of us have launch or near launch systems that have been repaired, in some cases multiple times. How about sending out people like us a free slim model for those who are out of warranty so we don't have to worry about having a 360 crap out on us again and then having to go buy another one if we want to still be able to play a 360? I'm not saying game companies aren't in it to make money, but chrissakes, Microsoft.

Make fun of it all you want (MS) but I'm not afraid of my Ps3 crapping out on me. Yeah there's the YLoD but that's very very rare compared to RRoD of which I've had 4. I'm afraid to look at let alone turn on my 360 anymore; I'm just waiting for another RRoD and attempting to fix it myself. I've left my Ps3 f@h for days at a time, no breaks, no power downs guess what it didn't even sweat. I KNOW the 360 wouldn't be able to take that abuse.

Stuff like they showed today (other than Gears), I'm glad I have a capable PC machine. I'm sick of this motion control BS and the dumbing down of console games to cater to soccer moms and old people who (at this point) already own Wii consoles and aren't going to buy a 360 or Ps3 system + Kinect or Move.

Sure you did, you said millions will love natal.

No I didn't. I said this potentially gives microsoft a market of millions. I didn't say it gave them a new market of millions today. For a product that isn't even out yet. Potentially gives them a larger market. I didn't say millions of people love it today.
Specifically bored wii gamers or those wanting more edgier games or simply better graphics.

I saw kinectimals and instantly thought my daughter would love it. She plays that on her DS all the time, or rather nintendogs, but this will be more interactive. And there are many of us who own wii consoles but just want better graphics and better games. We are going to buy this. The market is bigger than you may think.

The newer 360's don't have the RRoD problem that plague the earlier models. I can't remember which code name these ones have but they came out last year.

Hmmmm, i do like the 360 slim now they have shown more pics etc, however i wasnt wowed by any of the games/kinect games apart from gears and the kinect sports. i like the voice and movement controlled dash. I was really hoping for some windows phone 7 live stuff from them! Overall, pretty meh but millions will love it! Good going MS and decentish e3!

Gamtrailers was/is hurting right now; Probably the same tomorrow.

I just watched the IGN stream from Youtube.

And there are many of us who own wii consoles but just want better graphics and better games. We are going to buy this. The market is bigger than you may think.

The Wii is comprised mainly of casual gamers whose only console they've ever owned or bought is a Wii; Nintendo even admits this. Casual gamer Wii owners are not going to buy a 2nd console and a peripheral for that console when a fair share of those casual gamer Wii owners don't even own an HDTV. (sad but true, at least - according to Nintendo).

I'm not saying there's no market, I'm saying they're going after a niche of a niche, if Nintendo actually knows what they're talking about (and being the creator of the Wii, I'd tend to believe them despite my boredom with the console itself).

Kinect and Move will sell, I'm not saying they're going to be the second coming of the Power Glove. However Microsoft is really throwing all their eggs into that basket and I think it's a really dumb move. Nintendo did the same thing, and they've proven successful in terms of $$$ however ask any lifelong gamer what they think of the Wii and 9 times out of 10, they either don't like it much or it downright ticks them off that nothing but shovelware comes out for it 99% of the time. I'm in that boat....the best Wii title IMHO is still Resident Wiivel 4.

The newer 360's don't have the RRoD problem that plague the earlier models. I can't remember which code name these ones have but they came out last year.

I know that, that's not the point.
Millions upon millions of 360 owners bought Xeon consoles. Falcon revision came out and somewhat fixed RRoD, then the Jasper ones came out. Either way that doesn't matter when there are still Xeon consoles out there (like my pro unit bought a week before GeoW came out that has been repaired 4x). Odds are my console will fail again, and it really pisses me off that MS seems content on knowing that everyone's Xeon console will fail, out of warranty (meaning they don't have to fix it), and so we (Xeon owners) get screwed into buying another brand new 360 or abandoning all our 360 games and XBLA content. In the least if they don't want to replace my console with a Falcon or Jasper, the least they could do is put in place a lifetime warranty against RRoD being that it's their faulty design that leads to the problem, not any fault of mine.

Some people may think I'm being grouchy about it, but it's still BS. My console is technically on borrowed time. Knowing my luck, it'll RRoD in irrepairable fashion 2 minutes after I buy Gears 3.

I have to disagree. I know a great many of us, myself included, own wii's and do have HDTV's. We bought them mainly because we have families. This is good for the kids. And the wives approve. Granted i'm primarily a PC gamer, but a very casual one at that.
Essentially bringing this type of gameplay to the wii allows us to get the wife approval and then get a 360. A lot of us got the wii because of the revolutionary control. Now we have that with the 360 but more. Husbands everywhere can get their balls back! And father's day is coming up...

And you are right, many of us are indeed bored with the wii. The games are just not that great, the graphics are horrible. However with the 360 you get the best of both worlds. And that's why this thing has potential. Wii like interactivity, better games, better features, HD, better graphics and it gets the wife approval. If I get bored with wii style gameplay I get better kinect interactivity. If I get bored with that I still have a great console and other style of games.

really? you guys expect MS to give you a new model because the old one had to be repaired? yes, i understand that they had a crazy number of them crap out; but they repair them for free for up to three years. that's a long ass time as far as free warranties go, and while yes, they need it, they make good on it. I've sent back a console for the E74, it took 8 days to get back to me and it's been fine since.

if you bought an iPhone but had it crap out on you would you expect a new model 5 years later after Apple replaced/fixed it for free? no, then why think that MS should give you a new console? just because other people got free ones?

as far as the Natal stuff, it looks like pure gimmick but it has since day 1. i'm sure it'll sell and make plenty of money, after all look at how well the Wii is doing. of course MS and Sony have put out similar devices; they've been building off of the innovations that Nintendo has created since day one. i'm certainly no nintendo fanboy, but they've been the only ones to consistently evolve the consoles with new ideas and technologies from the beginning. their hardware isn't as fast, and their systems aren't as strong, but from the nintendo, to the gameboy, to the SNES controllers (shoulder pads), N64 (analog stick), hell even the failed virtual boy have all been innovations, however gimmicky they seem. they still impact the market and lead to better product design by their competition.

the PSX and the xbox were both high powered copies of the N64, and their followup consoles have merely been upgrades to their systems. i think MS has done a good job with XBL! but hardware side there hasn't been anything that either company did first, iirc.
