Anyone here have one of these yet? Like to know if they can overclock like their bigger e8600 brother. Cpu-Z screenshots if you have em.
 
I'm thinking they will OC just like their big bro, but with one less full multi potential. I would like one...I'm waiting
 
Just got mine... not E0 (i think, haven't opened). Think the E0s come with the S-Spec SLB9J, just got mine and it's SLAPL :( w/ pack date 06/16/08. Anyways, the multi will hurt the O/C potential but the extra gain is just for e-peening.
 
Not really for just e-peening if it can do 500x9fsb on air. Been pretty quiet so either they haven't quite moved all the C0 out of inventory to saturate retail, or they are nothing special from the C0 stepping.
 
I got one from newegg a few weeks ago.

Everything stock. I had it up to 4.2 Ghz but im a little nervous pushing the voltages like that with the stock HSF. I should of sprung for some faster ram also. :p

Any C0 can do that, ;)4.5ghz or bust lets see that E0 stepping put to use.

It's pretty impressive for stock cooling though, and the voltage is low. It probably has quite a bit more potential in it :D.

You should try to get faster ram. Your PC2-6400 wont cut it for over 3.75Ghz. Your Mushkin Ascent PC2-8500 would be more then perfect if not overkill, PC2-8000 would be more then good enough.
 
I can get E8400 E0 and E8500 C0 for the same price, which one will be better to overclock?
 
4.5ghz or bust. Anythign else is sub-par.

My stupid mobo is limiting my processor. :(

e8500 c0. this e0 thing is just talk so far. if you check out the e8600 e0thread at xs, you will find that most of the guys getting over 4400 are using 1.42v vcore and more. i cant feature an e8400 doing better than that. i've had and sold 1 e8600, and 2 e8400 e0, none of them were any better than the c0. maybe a couple degrees at load, and a miniscule amount of vcore. i am sure there are good overclocking chips put there, but probably just as many as the c0 chips. its not some magic number guaranteed to run 4.5 - 5ghz. unless, of course, you been dying for those sse 4.1 extensions. people went thru this same toenail biting over the q6600 be and q6600 g0, and the average difference turned out to be around 100mhz and 4 degrees at load.
 
^^^^^^ Word. I'd rather have a proc that's been out for @ least a month and has a good history of w/e we want it to be doing (lower volts for example). Since now the E84 is like $170 and the E85 is $190, I'd take the E85 w/ its higher multi.
