We've had one for just over a year now.
We bought the cheapest (yellow) one, because the only difference in price is all the attachments, and we didn't need 'em.
The wife loves it. It seems to work pretty well AFAICT. Picks up truckloads of stuff, at any rate. With 3 teenagers and a 10 year old in the house, we generate a LOT of dirt.
We've had 2 niggly things go wrong with it. 1) the "ring guard" on the handletop had its spring fail right off the bat, and the replacement only lasted a few months. We just live with it taped open now, since no one who uses the vacuum wears jewelry. The other thing is the curtain attachment busted at the swivel point after 6 months, but they replaced that lickety split (best buy) and we haven't had any other problems with it.
The ergonomics are great. Easy to push around, easy to use the handle and hose extension. Easy to empty the bin. Easy to clean and easy to remove stuck items from the plumbing.
We like it a lot more than our previous vaccuums. Worth 400 bucks? Still not sure, but thats water under the bridge. If it lasts 10 years, yes.

This post "sucks".
I have one - the purple beast with the pet hair attachments, etc. The vacuum does much better work than our previous one which was an Oreck. We have had it for about 3 months with no problems or issues. 2 adults, one 4 year old, 1 cat, and two german shepherds.
I used one at a home show and it didn't seem too bad. Not sure if it justified the cost though.
On a side note, their spokesman/inventor is one of the most annoying people on TV.

I still think they are way over priced. Plus they guarantee that it will not lose suction but that is BS. My aunt decided to buy the one for pets because she has 4 dogs and after about 2 months the thing just wasnt as powerful as before because it was clogged. She had to take it back to sears and they had to send it out for cleaning. So for $400 - 600 I do not think it is worth it.
