Was going to do a window mod, but thought that dynamat on the side panels would be a lot better. Had some dynamat from a stereo build that I did a while back.

I was thinking these things would help trap sound coming from the fans rather than stop vibration. The panels themselves don't vibrate.
 
It won't help stop fan noise, since that'll just come out the holes in the case anyway. The only way that you can reduce case noise by adding material is by dampening vibrations.
 
Well it actually helped. PC is quieter. I think it helped cancel out the noise from the psu, which is the loudest fan in the case. Yates are going at 1200rpm, once I get the fan controller, and run them at 1000rpm, it should be close to silent.
 
This stuff does help if you have some vibrations from thin aluminum. I don't think it matters with a steel case though.
 
For that Rocketfish case, I highly suggest suspending your HDDs - it's the only way to help eliminate case reverb. Those rubber rubber grommets attached to the HDD screws don't help much.

That + Dynamat on your side panels means your only real noise offenders will be case fans.
 
I'll second that last post. I have used Dynamat and AcoustiPack on different cases and both had the same result. Little or none. It's really an end-game advance in quieting - the thing you do when there's nothing left. Your priorities should be quiet GPU cooler (usually the worst), quiet CPU cooler, quiet case fans, quiet PSU, suspended HDDs, eliminate direct paths between sound producers and your ears (tape front holes shut). I'm not saying that Dynamat won't help, but all of these things will produce greater results.
