I'm trying to narrow down some problem hardware, with as little RMAing hardware as possible.
My system was stable for ~2 months. Then, last week, I started getting some system instability. My HDD was getting corrupt files, so I checked that out. Nothing out of the ordinary (seagate drive tools). Then I checked my RAM - memtest went nuts. Tons of errors.
So, I went into my bios, and set my memory to default (by SPD) and that was the last time my machine ever booted. I still figured it was possibly bad ram, but I had 2 1gb sticks, and they both do the exact same thing when plugged in - fans all spin to 100% and stay there. No beeps or anything, until I pull ALL ram, then I get beeps. I also tried 1 stick of slower, older DDR2 PC3200 ram, which is under spec, but I was hoping would at least get me into the bios.
I have tried resetting the CMOS without any change.
I don't know whether it's the PSU or the motherboard at this point. The PSU is a 700 OCZ so it's got power, but if it died... who knows. Motherboard is a P5B deluxe WiFi, if that matters.
Any help or suggestions before I RMA things would be great... thanks..
