DX10 x1950 pro?

I found something weird just now...

The information about the card states that its DX10... so naturally I thought it was a typo and decided to check Jetway's website for the true info...

But I just found the same specifications as newegg. So is this a case of false advertising or is it something thats slipped past all of us? I cant find any more info on this card.

I still think its just a typo... but you never know:p
 
k, your gonna have to define DX10.

If you spicifically mean SM4.0, no, the card will not support it. But the Direct X may bring more features then just that, it may bring features that are supported by traditional pipes.

This card is on the traditional (well, traditional with ATIs 3X shader spin) pipeline architecture. it is not unified. the R600 and G80 GPUs are unified. They will support all features introduced by Direct X 10.
 
Misprint, it has to be. Theres no way its possible. It would require a whole brand new archatecture to support DX10. If it was DX10 it would be SM 4.0 also and not 3.0.
 
Its not DX10. The DX10 API won't even be able to run X1900s. Non DX10 cards on Vista will make use of DX9.0L, supposedly offering a slight boost in performance over DX9.0c on XP. Given the bloated state of Vista though, I have a hard time believing that 9L will run games as fast as 9c on XP.
 
Definitly not DX10.

The only DX10 cards now are the Geforce 8800GTX and GTS. Later this year ATI's R600 comes and will be DX10 and then there will come midrange cards from both Nvidia and ATI.
 
DX10 would require allot more than the X1950 has.
A revamp of the core totally of course.
It is not DX10 but its vista compatible. they are messing up.

I think your right, Someone over at jetway probably messed up and put DX10 instead of Vista compatible.

We could all buy a few of these cards then just sue the shit out of jetway when we "realize" our cards are not DX10 compatible" :p

Or when we "realize" the fact that the cards are not DX10 compatible we can just tell them they HAVE to buy us a card that truly is DX10.

If not then I'll have to press charges for "emotional losses" due to the disappointment of the lack of DX10:D

Have we all forgotten the difference between DirectX "compatible" and DirectX "compliant"?

"compatible" = you can have it in your PC with that version of DirectX, and your PC will still work.
"compliant" = supports all the features of that release of DirectX.

The X1950Pro is DirectX10 compatible, yes. DirectX compliant, no. Compare the GeForce 8800, which is both. Or the TNT2, which is neither.

Could be but with vista its a little trickier than that while it would work with vista it will be working on 9.0L no DX10 so it falls into the neither compatible or compliant with DX10 category.
 
Since I don't plan on going to Vista anytime soon, it makes no difference to me. DX10 will not be a feature/download for XP.

I was thinking about that - it's a valid point, for sure. DX10 does not (technically) HAVE any backwards compatibility (while DX9, 8, and 7 all did). As a result, you really cannot be DX10 'compatible' without ALSO being DX10 'compliant'.

It's true that DX10 and DX9.0L are largely inseperable, and the X1950 Pro IS DX9.0L compatible....but it's also DX9.0L compliant, too, so...

...yeah, the concept is largely meaningless. I suppose they are just using "DX10 compatible" to specifically say "DX9.0L compliant" another way. Given how much confusion abounds over what DX9.0L is exactly - even in the technical communities - I suppose it's just as well they do it this way.
