We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.

So I'm debating on cutting the cord when my contract with Verizon FIOS TV expires soon. I'd still like to be able to record at least 2 OTA channels at a time or record 2 and watch one. What are my choices? I considered an HTPC but those all seem pretty big in terms of form factor.

I have a friend who uses a Tivo for OTA who is happy with that but are there better alternatives?

well you have to have service to record the shows..... or OTA if you live in an area that has good signal

that being said the PC DVR scene is in flux

for OTA you can you MythTV or KODI Windows Media Center was one of the best choices for 10 years (dating back to Vista/XP MCE) but today it is a ghost ship that is barely still sailing.

KODI with the DVR plugin is a good choice if your not using cable tv.

HDhomerun DVR is a beta project and still has a ways to go before being something I would recommend, though we just it as our primary mode of watching/recording TV)
