My WalMart KDS CRT is on it's last leg after 2years and I think I am going to get an LCD. I am just wondering if there is a considerable difference in image quality with using DVI. I have a 9800pro. Will I notice DVI??

So I guess i'll be looking for DVI, 16ms, anything else? Native Resolution? Not sure if I'll go with 17" or 19" (obviously that depends on $$$)

edit:pS. Thx

17 or 19? Well here are my thoughts. I game on a 16ms samsung 172x and it is great. I would love a 19" but the problem as you put is $$$. I personally would rather 2 17"s in dual view..than 1 19". I think you can get a 16ms samsung @ 1280x1024 for about 350-400 dollars. a 19" will run you 500 easy for a 16ms panel. I say spend 600-700 on dual 17s.

I was thinking going dual 17", but for some reason I ended up with at 23" HP L2335 ;)

Yes on DVI, and if you have the bucks bigger is as a rule better.

Go for it ;)

Well I have a Samsung 193p at home and I use D-sub with my home computer. I've tried to connect my work laptop to it using DVI and switching between the two. There's not much difference at all. There might be a little more bluring with D-sub, but it's hard to notice.

But I guess that the quality on the D-sub can vary greatly between brands. The only way to make sure is to test the LCD with D-sub and DVI by yourself or perhaps read what reviewers say.

As pointed out by Dew once you go DVI you won't go back. Well if you don't go DVI then you can't compare with anything can you, the choise is up to you.

Long story short, guy sold me a PNY 6800 GT for dirt cheap because of the bluing problem with vga out. I run DVI on my VP171b. DVI rocks. This is a longterm investment as people don't change monitors like Systems (well I don't anyway). DVI is a great thing do it...

I too couldn't really notice a difference in quality from d-sub to dvi on my 1800FP. On my Acer LCD it has no DVI support and the quality is great..

i just wanna get something straight
d-sub = analog?
and what are the differences between dvi-i, dvi-d, dvi-a etc etc?? and how can i tell what i have on my lcd/video card??

the dvi has to be on your Monitor correct? My monitor only has VGA but my 9800 XT has DVI, if i get a convertor would i notice a diff?
