My friend has the Nvidia 6800Ultra and he and I was talking about buying a larger Monitor. I figured since the newer High def TV's come with DVI input and Digital converters maybe one would work. He has a Panasonic 50" LCD TV and plugged his card up to that TV and the card detects the tv right away. Gave him to option to choose from 720i, 480i and 1080. He said it looks great. But in a game the responsiveness was a little slower. So I was wondering if a CRT Highdef tv would work good? I was looking at buying this for my PC monitor.

would the response time be better? would it be a wise choice? my video card

Well I picked up the TV yesterday, but can't seem to get it to go over 640x480 resalution. Is there an ATI driver out there for the AX800XT-PE that will see this monitor? My friend has a Panasonic 50" LCD and his 6800ULTRA see's his TV and when he sets it to 1080i the card shows it running at 1600 x 1200 Someone Please HELP I don't want to return this badboy. I don't have the option to change anything. Just says Windows cant find an appropriate drviver and is running at a really low setting. The tv is HD ready, 1080i

Just got off with Tech support for Samsung, sent me to tier two support and they said that the max resalution you can get on this tv through a pc is 640 x 480 said but its posible to use your pc with the tv. I told them not at 640 x 480 30" tv with icons 6" wide. I don't think so. So back to the store I go. :(
 
Doesn't ATI make HDTV-specific adapters to allow 720p/1080i over component connections?

Alternately, isn't there a way to make the HDTV resolutions selectable? I know Nvidia had something in their release notes about this not too long ago... I doubt ATI would let Nvidia have a feature like that up on them for long.
 
I dont think the card was the problem. The tv had resalution at 640 x480 at 60hrz If you changed the hrz on the tv at all the screen would turn blue. On my regular monitor it would be at 75hrz at 1240 x 1040 So I guess the tv just couldn't handle it. I don't know why though. its a HDTV 1080i I don't know. It sucks. Now I gotta lug this thing back to the store.
