Is there a difference in image quality, or anything else for that matter, or is there no difference?

yes...

DVI has a higher quality because you do not have to convert it into analog and back into digital.
 
Depends on the monitor. If it's some cheap display then it may not make a difference, but if it's a higher quality display then yes, it may make some difference. If you're looking to buy a new monitor and want to know if it's worth having DVI, then I go back to my previous statement, it depends on the display. The general concensus is that DVI is noticebly better quality given the right conditions.

I run DVI on my 19" LCD. I haven't really used analog on it so I can't say that I notice a difference however, it does look nice no matter what :).
 
a few years back i had an 18" lcd viewsonic that had both inputs

dvi had a resolution up to 1280x1024
d-sub was 1600x1200

i think the dvi looked better at 1280 than the dsub did at 1600
 
I got a viewsonic p810-3 they dont make them anymore but I think that it is a great monitor, when they did make them they were very expensive.
before I got this monitor it was used at the hospital for there electrocariograms or somthing like that. it has some other type of connectors in the back, one for red, blue, green and two sync connections.

How is it possible for an LCD to go above it's native resolution? The DVI resolution must have been native.
 
I am on my third 2005FPW.

First had bad backlight bleeding and didn't respond to DVI input, forcing me to use D-SUB

Second had acceptable backlight bleed, but still didn't respond to DVI input.

Third one has bad backlight bleeding but does respond to DVI input, and believe me it is night and day better. So much sharper. But it is going back as well due to the backlight.

I will keep nagging those b*stards until they send me something worth the 480 euros I paid for it.
