DVI Cables

I have a question regarding dvi cables for a new LG204 monitor that I grabbed today. The dvi cable did not come with the monitor so I need to buy one but really do not know anything about the various kinds. The input for the new monitor is for a dvi-d cable. The input into my video card (ATI Radeon 9550) appears to be DVI-I. My friend said he has a DVI-D to DVI-D cable. Will this work in my setup? I'm not sure if the DVD-I input supports the D format as well. Will I need a DVD-D to DVD-I cable?

single vs. dual link? any information on the differences, which one I would need? suggestions?

single link. you only need dual link for those insane resolutions like 2560x1600.
