DVI cable question

I just bought the 23" sony LCD monitor and I have a question about the DVI cable. It came with a DVI cable that doesnt seem too bad, but I was wondering if the DVI cable made a big difference? If I was to go out and buy the best DVI cable out there would it make a big difference?

Don't listen to agentzero9. He thinks you're a sucker who will believe anything. You definitately want a better cable. The key thing to look for is gold-plated connectors. That makes a huge difference in the strength and cleanness of the signal, particularly if the cable is over 1 foot long. Do yourself a favor and spend the little extra money.

Think about it. If the more expensive cables didn't give you better picture quality, why on earth would anyone buy them? So that's proof that they work.

Now Im confused. Has there been any studies on this or any articles about this? Does anyone hve links to answer the question if a better DVI cable makes a difference.

My cable needs to be about 6 - 10 feet long, so would a better cable make a difference?

Another question: what is the difference between the single link and dual link cables?
I actually try both on my NEC MultiSync 1880SX witch have the DVI-I and the DVI-D input. I don’t know why but the picture quality is better with the single link cable.

I used my stock dvi cable and the monster cable and I can see a difference. The monster DVI cable is definately better. The text and images are clearer. Its not a huge difference, but theres definately a difference. Not to mention with all of the interference going on around a computer you want a cord with the most shielding possible. Like I said, there is a difference, but I dont know if there is a $100 worth of difference though.

Ah yes, the ongoing perpetuation of ignorance. People spend hundreds and thousands of dollars on a good monitor yet the idea of a $150.00 machine to calibrate it, let alone a good hook up cable, is beyond them.

Monster is nowhere near the best or most expensive cable out there, but it does work pretty well.

The idea that Sony and Lucas Films etc all use the product means nothing. The idea that almost all your favorite bands use the products must mean nothing too. Monster doesn’t provide crap to anyone for free, those people all have to buy it too.

It must feel wonderful to know more then anyone else, I envy you your bliss.

Seriously, I bought a 1M Monster DVI cable for my NEC 1860NX and noticed a difference. Colors were brighter, images were noticeably sharper. Was it worth $100? Not IMO but there is a difference.

If you cant afford a $100 cable thats understandable, most high school kids cant. The cable does make a difference, and like I said, its a difference but not $100 worth. But if youre bitter because someone else has the money to buy that cable then maybe you should stop getting all over everyone's jocks who does buy it.

I think the real question was whether or not it was worth that kind of money in picture quality to get a better cable, and it seems like many people have established that it's not. There is a difference, but not enough to justify spending that kind of money, especially if you don't have that kind of money to just throw around.

Maybe I'm wrong but that's the gist I'm getting out of this thread so far.
