I switched from a VGA cable to a DVI cable for my Syncmaster 931bw 19" Widescreen. And now my auto adjust says unavailable, and I can adjust course, fine, or position. Is that supposed to happen with DVI cables?

I'm using a DVI-D Dual Link cable from a 6800 GS using the DVI port.

Yeah I think auto adjust is only for vga cables cause its analog and dvi is digital so no adjusting is needed.

I just got a Chimei 22" widescreen. I have only tried it with DVI, but the auto-adjust button seems to do nothing for me. I am thinking that with DVI, since the digital information is sent, there is nothing to "automatically" adjust. With an analog signal, the screen might need to do some work to make sure it is centered, pixels lined up, etc.

You are correct, with a digital signal, there's nothing to auto adjust. What auto adjust does is try to line up the analogue signal with the pixels on the screen automatically. That's not an issue with a digital signal. Along the same lines you'll find that size, phase, pixel clock and adjustments like those are disabled as they no longer apply.
